Lorraine Jeffery I am first and foremost, a poet, and I write poetry all the time. I also write short stories and essays. I am considering another novel, but haven't made a final decision yet.
Lorraine Jeffery I am usually inspired by something I see or hear--a snippet her or there, that I think about and ponder. I seldom have writer's block, my challenge is finding the time in my busy life, to do what I enjoy so much.
Lorraine Jeffery The best thing about being a writer is having the opportunity to ponder and think about the best way to share your ideas and thoughts with other people.
Lorraine Jeffery My maternal grandmother was interested in healthcare, but she raised her family during the Great Depression and had little time to pursue her dream. When she was in her fifties, she went to school and earned her LPN, and then mortgaged the family home and bought a small healthcare facility for the elderly. She loved her work, and I grew up working in the facility and hearing about the challenges and joys of running it.

So naturally, my protagonist is the manager of a healthcare facility and she finds her own strength and independence while saving both her career and the healthcare facility.
Lorraine Jeffery As I said, I don't deal with writer's block much. My challenge is to find the time to write.
Lorraine Jeffery Just do it, and don't give up. Be inspired by great writers, but don't be discouraged by the mastery of their work. Sometimes a poorly written novel can be a great inspiration. :)
