I sit on the couch, my tote bag around my elbow, wishing I'd remembered to buy batteries for the flash light and gas for the car. An orange glow peeks through the crack in the curtain as the neighbors whizz by on their way to the shelter.

There are so many! Don't you Cry by Mary Kubica is amazing and The Widow is great. I love Shutters Island and books with that vibe. My next book, Brooklyn Bitters, is in the last draft. Would love to hear your favorites to read this summer!

I have "What Belongs to You" on my reading list as well as "Girl through Glass." Of course, my book club may have different ideas, but those two are on my short list! :)

Hi again, Kim! I answered just now but forgot to say that I think Reid will be an interesting character in the sequel. Also, Robert. As for the mother, I actually am conflicted about her character. We will see! Of course, I have to bring back Dr. Lieberman - he held a special place in my heart. :)

Good question! Thank you! When I finished the book, I needed to take some time to process everything - I was so close to the characters. They were very real to me. My new book, Brooklyn Bitters, should be out this summer and I think I'm ready to explore a sequel. I have thought about Emily, Reid, the mother, Robert and even Perry and what happened to them. So, yes - I definitely will do a sequel! That you, Kim, for your question!

Oh, that's a great question and so hard! In terms of classics - I love Romeo and Juliet, Scarlett and Rhett, and Dickens' Estella and Pip among many others! I tend to like characters that are not straightforward and relationships that do not tie into a bow at the end. There are so many wonderful couples with modern books - too many! I recently finished Gone Girl and watched the movie one late night. I found the Nick and Amy couple interesting because it was hard to figure them out. I'm still unsure! Also loved Alicia and Nash of Beautiful Mind, although it was based on a true story. I enjoyed the way Alicia stood by him without being passive. And I have to say I loved Daphne and Niles always made me smile (Frazier).

I was a weird, lonely little kid and writing was like a friend to me. I don't remember "not writing." It was second nature to me from an early age.

My best advise is to not wait for the right time because it may not come. Life gets complicated. Set a time every day to write. Write, write, and write! Also, editing is crucial.

I get very excited when something I wrote touches a chord with the reader. They may have had a similar experience as the heroine.

That's a hard one because there are so many! I really liked A Beautiful Mind, and books with a psychological component.

I'm working on a new mystery called "Brooklyn Bitters." It's in the character development stage and I'm enjoying meeting my new people.

I walk and listen to music - slow music or classical. It seems to get me thinking about the characters in my book. Also, no matter what—I make time first thing in the morning to write.
