Hi Jessi, Thank you so much for writing--I am so happy that you have enjoyed both of my novels, and I am delighted that they are comfort reads for you. I am working on a 3rd book, and will definitely share any news about it when the time comes! Thanks again! With appreciation, L

Dear Dolores, Thank you so much for this wonderful note! I am so happy that you connected with the characters and story of The City Baker's Guide! And I love that it was a way to connect your love of reading with your granddaughter. I'm not sure if you know about my 2nd book The Late Bloomers' Club. It takes place in the same small Vermont town. It has all new characters, but you get to catch a glimpse of a few of the characters from City Baker--after all, it is a new town :) I am working on my 3rd book now. Hopefully I'll have more details about it in the coming months. Thanks so much for writing--you made my day! warmly, Louise

Hi Stacy, I’m so glad you enjoyed The City Baker’s Guide!
I do share a lot of externals with Livvy—I’m a pastry chef, and I play old-time banjo, that’s pretty much where the comparisons end. If I’m like any of my characters, I’d have to say I’m the most like Margaret :)

thanks so much, Becky--this made my day! My new project is still in the early stages, so I do not have a time frame yet, but I will post any news here and on my website when I have some! In the meantime, have you read any Abbi Waxman? I love her sense of humor, and her characters always feel so real.

thank you so much, Abbey! I am so happy you enjoyed both books! I am at work on another book, and will definitely post updates here when I know more! Thank you so much for this cheery question--it is very inspiring to me!

Thank you so much for this cheery note! I haven’t thought about writing a sequel, but I’m sure i’ll return to Guthrie in future books, and maybe we will see what Nora and her friends are up to then. Thanks again!

Hi Amy! Thanks so much! The Late Bloomers' Club is set in the country--it is actually set in the same fictional Vermont town that I set The City Baker's Guide to Country Living in! It was fun to explore the same town from a different perspective--this time from the point of view of Nora Huckleberry, the owner of the Miss Guthrie diner. Nora was born in Guthrie and never left, so she has an insider perspective on the town.
There are definitely baking descriptions in The Late Bloomers' Club. Without giving too much away, i'll just say that cake baking plays a role in one of the subplots. And there is a recipe in the back of the book for one of my favorite New England cakes.

Thank you so much, Christine! I'm thrilled you loved the City Baker's Guide. You might be happy to know The Late Bloomers' Club is set back in Guthrie, but with all new characters (although it is a small town--there are definitely cameos!)
I have taken baby steps towards my 3rd book--mostly just research and daydreaming at this point, but my goal is to be writing by the end of April. It is super helpful to be writing a new book while another one is published--i'm always nervous about my books making their way out into the world, so it is always good to have a new project to turn to when I am feeling the anxiety.

Oh, my TBR pile. There is a pile on my nightstand, and a couple of stacks in my apartment hallway, and another couple of stacks of books in my office, on my desk, piled up on my couch, on the floor...I didn't do a lot of reading last summer--I was too distracted by the launch of The City Baker's Guide!--so this summer I am trying to catch up on titles that I purchased last summer but didn't get to. I'm very excited to read Modern Lovers by Emma Straub, The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner, and The Two-Family House by Lynda Cohen Loigman, just to name a few!

I come from an Irish catholic family who kept everything a secret, so there are many mysteries in my family I could draw from! We know next to nothing about my dad's dad. other than he came to the U.S. through Nova Scotia. That is where I would start.

HA! I LOVE this! It would be a *very different* story :) like if Quentin Tarantino directed it and Uma Thurman played Livvy

Thank you so much, Emmy! I'm so happy you loved The City Baker's Guide! I am hard at work on my 2nd novel. It isn't a sequel, but it does take place in Guthrie, Vermont. I'll definitely update here when I know more details about the pub date. Thanks again!

Oh, I love this question. And it's a hard one--there are SO MANY.
My all-time fictional couple, hands down, is Rick and Ilsa from Casablanca. What a love story, and what an ending. I've seen Casablanca at least 25 times in my life, and I always get something new with each viewing.
(one of) My favorite fictional book couple is Sean and Puck in Maggie Stiefvater's The Scorpio Races. That is one of my all-time favorite books. Their love for each other feels so organic and true. the story is thrilling, and their relationship unfolds so beautifully--gah, now I want to go read it again! it's also a FABULOUS audio book.

Dear David, hello! thanks so much for reading The City Baker. The book I am working now does, in fact, take place in Guthrie. So far all of the characters are new, but it's a small town, so I am sure some familiar faces will show up soon. Please say hello to your book club for me! I hope you have a cheery time talking about the book.

Hi Florence! The secret to a good croissant is definitely temperature! it is important to keep everything cool. If the butter gets too warm, it squishes into the dough, and you lose those beautiful layers. Now I want to go to my local bakery and have one!
