Tori Telfer Really lovely coffee shops! I know it's not the most unique answer in the world, but the noise level at a busy-ish coffee shop is just perfect. I love being around other people who are also working on their laptops; I love a huge cafe au lait and some sort of pastry (almond croissant? cranberry rosemary scone? cinnamon bun? oh the options). As a work-from-home freelancer (even before the pandemic), it's nice to have an excuse to be around people for part of my workday. I wrote most of Confident Women at the same three coffee shops and I can't wait until it's safe to write in coffee shops again. xoxo
Tori Telfer Thank you so much, Nuria! I'm so glad to hear that. (And happy birthday!) Years ago, I read about Erzsebet Bathory and was basically like, "What?? There are female serial killers?!" So I pitched the idea of a column covering female serial killers to a website called The Hairpin, and they accepted it...and eventually that column turned into my book. :)
Tori Telfer These days, I'm writing a series about, broadly, what it's like to write about serial killers. It's being published on Medium's members-only platform and you can read it here if you so desire: https://medium.com/s/damned-souls-and...

I'm also working on pieces about dream analysts, the bystander effect, and a young female Japanese anarchist who was convicted (perhaps unfairly) of an assassination plot.
