My latest book, which will be published in early March, is again set in the 1960's. It moves from London to Paris and St Tropez and reflects the massive social changes that were taking place in that decade. Old values and restrictions were being challenged and young people were asserting themselves in music, fashion, and the arts. The book is about the search for missing girl and the trail mirrors a driving holiday that my wife and I undertook to the South of France in our Triumph Spitfire.

I have earned my living from writing from the day I left school and I got a job in the publicity department of a large company. Now I am retired I discovered that I cannot function properly without writing. I don't have to be inspired, it is an addiction.

I've just finished my third book and I am fortunate that I have two family members who are very good at proofreading and editing. So I am now I am having fun planning my fourth book, while others are slaving away looking for my mistakes.

Make a point of reading the work of famous authors, particularly the classics. Reading the work of really good writers get you into the habit of doing things right.

With a little imagination, you can write about places that you have never been to and create characters you are unlike to meet. You can please yourself when you write and, best of all, you can do it sitting down.

Luckily I have never had it. There are so many things that can trigger an idea for a book. I am a good listener so things I hear on television or just having a conversation with friends can lead to the idea. Then its down to imagination.
