My daughter told me yesterday that a "connoisseurus" is a pet that bites you if you pet him. Lot of mystery there, including who among the dinosauria was especially critical, why it is that he's so touchy, and where does she come up with this stuff.

Hi Allison,
Great question! I wish I had a simple answer for you and Layla. I have to admit: Otis Grows actually began as a dream my dad had. And Batty Betty, my next book, began with a scribble drawing my (then) three-year-old did, which was captioned, "A giant dancing with a basket."
So perhaps it's a matter of paying attention to the world around you? Inspiration is everywhere! Maybe you and Layla can write your own book...!
Best,
Kathryn

Yes, copies are out and available, and we just issued a giveaway for fifteen signed editions here on Goodreads. Throw your hat in!
As for your Celebrate Diversity! book, I think that's great. Yes, Otis Grows certainly shines a light on how cultures can sometimes clash. It's couched in a bit of a bizarre premise (that an onion could be the son of a chicken and a flower) but my hope is that parents and kids can get past the "genetics" and find some things to talk about. A recent interview I did with The Corner on Character addresses that:

Glad to be your first GR friend. Congratulations on your first publication. Looking forward to your May release!
