In our local (Wisconsin) cemetery, there is the grave of a revolutionary war veteran, a soldier who served with George Washington. Because Wisconsin didn't become a state until 1848, the mystery of how he came to live in our small town, and how his time as a Revolutionary War soldier influenced his life, would be an interesting real life plot.

I visited a local cemetery and saw a grave for an American Revolution soldier, which is unusual in Wisconsin. I thought how brave he'd been, how young at the time. I wondered why he'd followed Washington when American odds were low and times hard. I wondered if current Americans would be as brave, willing to sacrifice as much. So I decided to test it out and send four modern kids back in time. :-)
