I'm currently working on a 3-part inspirational romance series...two sisters and a half-sister they never knew about.
Moreland Plantation Series features an 1846 antebellum plantation house in southern Louisiana named Moreland.
Theme: restoration.
What if an abandoned plantation house restores its owner?
Book one introduces Everley Scott, an orderly CPA in Chicago, older of two sisters, who inherits Moreland and is obligated to satisfy her mother's dying wishes to have it restored. One caveat is that she's only to trust the work to Gabriel Bellevue, a historic restoration specialist in New Orleans. When a notable production company wants to film the restoration for pitch to a TV network, will Everley see this merely as a means for financial gain, enabling her to pay Gabe's cost, sell Moreland and be rid of it forever? Or will she ditch status quo, embrace Moreland and free herself to dream?
Book 2 features Serenity Lewis, the younger sister living in their hometown, New Orleans, whose only child is her bakery and coffee shop in the French Quarter, and Owen Walker, an NFL defensive end who's one concussion away from a career-ending injury. But what is life for a Walker outside of football? Will he risk one more season or retire and pursue his first love...baking? When he learns that Serenity can't provide his heart's greatest desire, can he choose to love unconditionally?
Book 3 features supermodel Laurel James, the daughter of former Oscar-winning film actress, Cora Lindenberg, who feels unseen and unknown, particularly when she realizes the man who raised her isn't really her dad. Jude Buchanan, a former Marine, seeks purpose as a civilian and readily offers to help Laurel search the identity of her biological father. Will Laurel's discovery threaten to end her illustrious career?
When the woman who promised to wait for Jude's stateside return casts him aside during the ceremony at the beseeching of her first husband, will involvement with Laurel target his heart for further destruction? At what cost honorable duty?

Everywhere. And often when I'm not looking for ideas. I study names all the time. I observe my surroundings, I take note of real life happenings, incline my ear to how husband and wife met or a childhood experience that could lend itself to a character backstory... Great material for a book is all around, waiting to be discovered.

Ideas were simmering for several years. Eventually, they emerged into dialogue and scene ideas. When we moved from Houston, Texas to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, I was inspired by the beauty of the area and thought it'd be special to feature Hickory as the setting for a contemporary romance novel. I have a sister who worked emergency nursing and wondered what it would look like if two crisis-driven professions (an ER nurse and a cop) who don't hesitate to answer emergency calls were faced with risking their heart in order to answer the call to love.
