Shelley Justice Read, read and read some more. (Yes, I am a bookworm!) I also do a lot of free writing. I put words to a page without any idea of character names or plot lines or conflicts or anything like that. Sometimes I love what comes out of my free writing (Knight's Rescue is an example of this), and sometimes I hate it. But just doing what I love without overthinking it often works wonders for breaking through that writer's block.
Shelley Justice Becoming lost in a world of my own creation, developing characters that I love and relate to. Bring creative with the plot. I love it all!
Shelley Justice Build a network of authors who will share with you their process, their successes, their challenges and their failures. Eventually as a writer, you have to develop your own process based on what works for you, but being able to learn from the wisdom of others is invaluable.
Shelley Justice Preparing Book Two, Knight's Rescue, for publication, and writing the first draft of Book Three, Knight's Temptation, both of which are part of my Knights of KSI Series, of course.
Shelley Justice Read, read and read some more. I also get inspired by movies and music, but reading other authors' creations really sparks my own imagination.
Shelley Justice I actually wrote the second book in my Knights of KSI series, Knight's Rescue, first, and as I shared the book with my beta readers, I realized I wanted to tell Tristin and Kat's love story. They are two characters I loved creating. Tristin is charming with a heart of gold, and Kat is fierce and independent who carries the weight of the world on her shoulders sometimes.
