Write what you love, and believe in yourself. Someone, somewhere will love what you've written, and someday you might be someone's favourite author.

I used to stop writing and wait for some inspiration, but these days I'm more disciplined. If I get really stuck I leave the piece I'm writing and move on.
I can usually write the next few chapters and then come back to the stuck bit. So I haven't had writers block since the middle of lockdown, but that was a completely different scenario.

This is such a hard question to answer. I just love writing, but I'm not sure what it is that I love so much.
I suppose being able to create something from my imagination. To mold it and make it mine - and of course to torture my characters.

The working title for my current work in progress is, Margaret.
I am loving this book. For the first time I'm writing it from the my character's point of view, and so I've been able to really immerse myself.
The story is based on the life of Margaret Chambers. She was the daughter of Sir Samuel Chambers and Lady Barbara Roper. So, she was from quite a well to do family. I don't want to give too much away, but I will tell you that she ran away to Van Diemen's Land where she was seduced by the handsome William Hartley.

Like all my books, the inspiration comes from my ancestors. I've been an avid family historian for many years, and now, I'm sharing their stories with you.
Pioneers of Burra is a great family story about people looking for a better life. We are not so different today, with many people moving around the world searching for a better life.
