Not always! I wanted to be a professional basketball player first lol! I tried out for my high school team when I was 15 years old and didn't make it. I was lost for a little bit, but then discovered screenwriting when I was 16. Did that for 3 years, not much came of it so I tried self-publishing novels instead. Here I am now!
No one expected me to be a writer. No one in my family is a writer, none of my friends are writers. It's very peculiar.

I was thinking up titles for a new standalone book and that popped up into my mind. I wanted to have a title that you would read and immediately think “holy cow that sounds insane!” So MY SON IS A MURDERER was born. From there I came up with the story and thought up ways to make everything dramatically interesting. Having the main character’s ex-husband be a police officer and the Son being accused of the murder of his own best friend was all very intentional as it makes things emotionally impactful.

I usually get inspired by real life criminal cases and murder mysteries! I’ll take some interesting elements from those true stories and then make it into a brand new story. I also think of scenarios that would be dramatically interesting. For example, for MY SON IS A MURDERER, I thought up the title first because I knew it sounded like something you would see on a news headline. From there I came up with the story and thought about how far a mother would go to prove her son’s innocence while simultaneously questioning who he really was. I thought this would be a very interesting element to play out.
