I just write. If it isn't good, I can and will edit later, but rather than having a block, I just write (see, e.g., Steven Pressfield's The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles).

Getting to share stories that mean so much to me with others.

Start writing! A writer is someone who writes. When I wrote my first novel, I shared it with friends and was told: "Do not edit this. Throw this away. This is not good. You can do better." That didn't deter me from writing, but rather encouraged me to practice the craft more. Anyone can write, but not all of us can do it well when we first start. If it is going to take practice and a few tries, better to get started sooner rather than later.

When the COVID lockdown happened in March of 2020, and the financial markets were tumbling, a friend made a comment about a "generation of perpetual renters," who would never be able to build the financial wealth necessary to own their own home. That idea struck me as sad, and then I looked around and realized we had all become a society of "mind renters," a far bigger tragedy. Digging into why this was, and how to address it became my mission, and Get Out of My Head was born.
