I am struggling to get inspired to write because of a summer of covid and family issues. I like to have outside influence, so I am taking a short course on short story writing to get me into the mood again. I find constant learning is the only way forward for me.

Kitty Canham is a folk tale told at the Bell Inn in Thorpe-le-Soken, the village next to my own. She is said to haunt there. The intreguing events surrounding her disapearance and reappearance intregued me. Also, the local rural landscape and haunting backwaters where she would have walked 300 years before me, really got my imaginationg going. I had to write her story.

I am excited by me next project. I will be asking followers to give me words, any words. At the end of the month I'll pull three from a hat and weave a short story around them in the next 30 days. The story will then be available free to my followers who I will ask for another word.

I'd have to go to Narnia, it was the dream landscape of my childhood. When I came round from an anaesthetic I was calling 'Aslan... Aslan.' Mountains, woodlans, snow and talking animals, what's not to like?

I find the best way to get going again is to meander. Taking time to meander in open fields or a park gives my brain space to allow new ideas to bubble up. Good luck.

Research publishing and marketting way before you complete your novel. Otherwise it will become as a bit of a shock! It did for me.
