Because I have always written for YA's and children, (until Broken came along) the adults in my stories have often been the bad guys. So, for me, it has to be Dr Alison Shaw and Tom McFaddean from Legend of the Five Javean. I mean they're not married or anything. In fact she doesn't much like him at the beginning of the book. Anyhow, she's fantastic, terribly funny and a whizz with a hockey stick and he's the most marvellous cook, and totally brilliant with a sword.

Plan. So may writers tell me they like to 'wing' it, go with the flow. If you are to be taken seriously, you need to follow the line of the plot to the end. I promise it doesn't stop the creative juices. It actually gives you more freedom and you don't write yourself into a blind alley.

I write upstairs, so writers' block sends me down to the kitchen to make a coffee. Looking at the street and people going past soon shifts the rubbish in my head.
