My advice for aspiring writers is read, read, read. Read everything you can get your hands on. Read outside your comfort zone. Reading teaches you everything beyond your natural fluency. Any craft question can be answered in a story or poem or article you admire.

I have not considered a book from Patrick's perspective, but thanks for your thoughts. (Poor Patrick! How difficult and terrible it would be, having to live with having killed your girlfriend in a car crash.)
