Tracy Broemmer I have a women's fiction book coming out next Friday—The Valentine Suite. I'm so excited to share this one. I love Alys and Fletch Holland. I have a contemporary romance coming out in October. This book is a part of a multi-author series, and I can not wait to get my hands on all of the books in the series! And I'm currently writing a novella for a Christmas anthology. The novella is untitled at this point. It will be included in the second volume of Snowed Inn. And...yeah, the novella is just a slice of a bigger women's fiction story I hope to write with these characters.
Tracy Broemmer I was in CA with my husband on a business trip. We stayed in a beautiful resort on the beach. I was in love with our suite and would have been happy to pack up and move there permanently. The characters and the plot came out of nowhere, but before I left that place, I had plotted the entire story for The Valentine Suite.
Tracy Broemmer Write. Believe in yourself, which is difficult at times. Something else that I've heard often from other writers is that you can define success in different ways. The fact that I get to spend my days writing about characters I absolutely love and that sometimes readers love those characters as much as I do makes me feel like I'm doing something right.
Tracy Broemmer I find ideas for stories everywhere: sometimes the news, sometimes TV shows, and lots of times, things I overhear. My husband rolls his eyes at me because any time we go to a sporting event—MLB or NFL game—though I'm a fan, I'm always listening to conversation around us, and I tend to take bits and pieces of those conversations and use them in stories. Also, sometimes just the people I meet and really admire inspire characters who tell me their stories.
Tracy Broemmer I always have a place to go in my head if I don't want to be where I am physically. I love having the voices in my head—ha, that sounds a little crazy!—and I love that sometimes I write something that connects with a reader who needed to hear/read that story at just that time.
Tracy Broemmer Sometimes, I push myself to write something. Even if I open a new file and just start hammering out something that has nothing to do with my current WIP. If that doesn't work, I walk away and do something in real life—usually laundry and/or cleaning, but sometimes a lunch date with a friend.
Tracy Broemmer Hogwarts, of course! I would prowl around every nook and crannie in that place and just soak up ll the Harry Potter vibes.
Tracy Broemmer My daughter and I are doing a summer reading BINGO game thru The Novel Neighbor, an indie bookstore where she lives. I currently have 3 bingos, with no free space used, including books like All Adults Here by Emma Straub, The Hunting Wives by May Cobb, and The Restarting Point by Marci Bolden. I have a small pile of books I haven't touched that were Mother's Day gifts, and I just got a few more as birthday gifts. Right now, I'm reading Karin Slaughter's latest, False Witness.
