Pluto Press got in touch to see if I'd like to re-edit Stitched Up. I started writing and then found I couldn't stop - so much has happened in the fashion industry since 2014 and there was just so much more to say about technology, influencers, the pandemic, workers rights, the climate crisis, colonialism, tax justice... Eventually it turned out I'd re-written so much that Pluto said it was a new book. I think of it as the same skeleton with new flesh on its bones and I can't wait for it to be out in the world.

Be politically and socially engaged with the world. Read brilliant work of all genres. Be curious about the questions you, and other people, have about the world. Make time for your writing - don't let people disrupt your time. Remember that good journalism and good writing changes things. Don't try and please everyone - close the door and write what you have to write.

I am lucky in that I write non-fiction about the world around me and so I don't tend to get blocked. The textile, clothing, and footwear industry is so rich in stories and bad practises that if I don't have enough to write, it generally means I need to go and do some more research or interviews. Normally the issue I have is cutting things down because there is so much to write about.
