I'm getting ready to publish a novel. The Second Crack is about Anne, whose twin sister Suz returns to Portland, Oregon at Christmas to help Anne keep her coffee house afloat. When Suz disappears, Anne uses conventional methods like going to the police and hiring a private eye. She also reads through Suz’s journal, which portrays Suz’s inner life and what has driven her to ‘adopt’ a township family in Johannesburg. But in order for Anne to find her sister, she must uncover her own complicity in Suz’s disappearance.
