Natalie - first off, thank you so much for the 5-star rating. I'm flattered that you love the book. To answer your question, no. I do not have any personal experience with surrogacy (pregnancy, yes - 4 times). This was a story that had been rolling around in my head for a year or so and it finally bugged me so much, I had to write it down. I wanted to write a story with a strong female friendship, but I wasn't sure how readers would feel about Skylar falling for her friend's husband. I agonized over how quickly the Skylar-Griffin relationship could play out. I, myself, cried several times while writing this book. I felt like I was Skylar. I felt like I was Erin. It's an amazing experience to get in the heads of my characters so deeply that I can make you think I went through the experience myself. That is the greatest compliment you can give me. Thank you <3

Mary, you ask a tough question. The honest-to-God truth is, I just write them that way. I don't really plan them out per se. Yes, I want my characters to be strong, but I really have to hand it to my parents for raising me in an environment that allows me to write in such a voice without even thinking about it. They made me realize that no dream is too big, no obstacle is too large to overcome, and to never accept no for an answer.

YES! I'm actually finishing up my third novel, 'Finding Mikayla' right now and expect to release it in late November.
You have no idea how it makes me feel when someone asks me this. I started writing just for me and whenever I hear that other people enjoy my books it still feels so unreal.

I don't have any writer friends so I'm not sure if this is unusual or not....but the way I deal with writer's block is to listen to really loud music on my treadmill. It usually only takes a few minutes before the ideas come flowing out of my head. In fact, I always take my voice recorder on it so I can spew off ideas without stopping.

Being able to live someone else's life for a short time. Don't get me wrong, I love my life, but who wouldn't want to live out a fantasy....the possibilities are endless. Plus, if I can't picture myself as the protagonist, how can I expect my readers to?
