It's a cloak-and-dagger mystery that reveals a galaxy-shaking secret. (Maybe more than one!)

This book pre-dates other books in the series, and marks the beginnings of the tyrannical rise of the evil Ithian Alliance galactic superpower. The characters and incidents have direct ties to other books in the series. (This is an expanded, revised version of the shorter story that was included as part of Pets in Space 5 collection, which is no longer available.)

I really enjoyed this start to the series with amazing world-building, complex characters, and a wonderfully detailed story that's sometimes gritty and intense, but always absorbing.

I'm looking forward to diving into more books in the Twelve Systems Chronicles series.
