John K Fulton is the son of a lighthouse keeper, and grew up all around the coast of Scotland. These remote and lonely locations instilled in him a life-long love of books and the sea. He studied at the Universities of St. Andrews and Dundee, and now lives in Leicester with his partner Sandra. While Leicester is about as far from the sea as you can get in the UK, their home is stuffed with books, which is the next-best thing.

The Wreck of the Argyll is his first novel, and is the winner of the Great War Dundee Children's Book Prize. ...more

New Year status report 2025

This is my twelfth (and final) year of writing up the status of my writing – see 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

What happened this year?

Nothing. No writing, no publications, no responses from agents about my novel (not even form emails).

I initially wrote three books that were just finding my way. I did get enough traction to keep going – one full ms request fr
