I contacted people from the local ham radio amateur club station KP4AO and Angel WP3R replied quickly with a promise to arrange a visit.
For details see this blog post on the visit: http://ag1le.blogspot.com/2014/04/vis...

I got the idea of writing a book on what happens when we finally establish a contact with extraterrestrial intelligence during that visit. Then, one year later during my summer vacation I wrote the story basically in five days. I shared the early drafts with my friends and also asked for comments from the expert - Dana Whitlow K8YUM who was my host at Arecibo. After fifteen different versions I finally published the book in the Amazon Kindle store.

Since this was my first book ever I didn't really have big expectations. As an engineer I write mostly on technical topics, so writing a science fiction book was a new experience for me. I was positively surprised when I got such a good feedback on this first book. (less)

My Creative Process for Writing Books

Bootstrap (Bootstrap Trilogy, #1) by Mauri Niininen I started writing books as a hobby less than 12 months ago. I am in process of editing my second book now and I published my first book "Bootstrap" in Amazon last September. Now is a good time to reflect what I have learned during this year.

I like Geoff Petty's version of the creative process that has the following six phases:

*inspiration - the spontaneous generation of ideas;
*clarification Read more of this blog post »

Gripping and layered story with strong characters

I couldn't stop reading this story by R.S. Hampton.
As the news headlines talk daily about Jeffrey Epstein and the trafficking operations that continued for years, this story felt all too real.
