But this page dragged out a fresh level of obsession.
The hand-drawn painting stood out, golden and beautifully vivid. The translation coils had been working on the rune-marks inked onto the vellum for the past ten days. And every day, every time I neared the table, my fingers itched to trace over the priceless image. To see if the fur and feathers of the beast would tease and warm my fingertips, and by the Great Stars, the creature was fully male. And that thought, the sight of its…its cock, heavy and thick and almost pulsing with potent life, always, always dried my mouth.

But…something in our DNA allowed humans through the layered shielding that’d protected the system against all would-be invaders. For millennia. Why us…? Another mystery to add to the growing pile. Theories abounded, naturally.
That humans were similar physiologically to the lost species.
That we were the exact opposite.
That the Andarii were waiting just for us…
I looked to the image again. No, not like us. Not a bit.
