What makes a great zombie story better than just a ho-hum run of the mill zombie story?
Let's ask the question differently. What makes everyday life better than just a ho-hum life?
Money? Na. Money just brings more issues.
Love? Eh. Can help but not the do all end all.
Friends? Sigh. Can you trust your friends not to trip you if you're running away from the cops or zombies? Not sure?
Humor? Bingo!
Humor is what adds spice to life and to the zombie apocalypse.
When you’re down and out because your friend ran off with your girl and your money what else can you do? Cry? No! You laugh!
When zombies have eaten your granny and your dog what can you do but laugh? Or better yet, what if your dead granny came back as a zombie and ate your dog and your cheating girlfriend. Now that's funny.
We as humans have used humor to shield ourselves from the hurts and fears that the everyday world has thrown at us since the beginning of time. So why wouldn't we laugh our way through the zombie apocalypse?
Even the hardened military black op soldier of fortune fighting across a wasteland of the undead has to find humor in watching reanimated corpses being ripped to pieces by automatic weapons fire or blown to bits by incendiary explosive devices. Just saying it sounds funny.
So if you are offended that we laugh at killing already dead people or rabid infected monsters hell-bent on ripping your heart out and eating it while you watch. Get a life snowflake. You would be dead already in the zombie apocalypse anyway. Because I would be the one to trip you and laugh as I ran away.
