The Best Spooky Ghost Stories for Kids on Shepherd

It’s so fun when friends find your books in the wild. By far the most photos I get are from my middle grade ghost books from @scholastic – This first one is from a free neighborhood library—a wife of a co-worker sent to me. The second one came from a half-price bookstore in Houston, courtesy of my sister-in-law. And then my bff sent THE REPLACEMENT all the way from Chicago! Super cool.

Speaking of fun ghost story things…Shepherd is a website offering curated lists of books based on specific them...

STORM CHASER is Out Today!

STORM CHASER IS OUT TODAY!

To celebrate its release, I had this beautiful character art done by Quinnasauras!

And enjoy this small excerpt of one of my favorite scenes.

The loudest bang echoed throughout the tight chamber and even though I knew I wasn’t supposed to move, I couldn’t help but flinch. After that, all sounds stopped. Even the initial whirring went totally silent.

Then came the muffled voices of my brother and his boyfriend.

“What i...

STORM CHASER – Cover Reveal

Coming October, 2022 Chasing dangerous storms is in Marley Pascal’s blood. For her, it’s an obsession—a need to confront the powerful, destructive forces that killed her parents.

But the storm she and her brother track down seems to violate the very laws of nature, with lightning that strikes as if from another world. In its crater, Marley finds a small purple crystal with a terrifying energy that hits her like a bolt to the chest when she picks it up.

Suddenly, it’s like the electricity pulses...

THE REPLACEMENT joins my other Spooky MG books!

My third middle grade horror with Scholastic came out in September! I’m so thrilled for this one to join the rest of my spooky ghost stories. And will you look how gorgeous they look together? The colors of the covers and the designs…ahh! The Scholastic team definitely knows what they’re doing in terms of branding—it kinda makes you want to get all three to complete your set!

So if you’re looking for a bone-chilling ghost story with a touch of mystery, check out these books to get in the mood fo...

GHOST IN THE HEADLIGHTS is Out Today!

Well, ladies and gents. Here we are. Another little book of mine out in the world today!

I will not lie to you, my friends. This one was RUFF. I won’t bore you with the details, but to give you a short snapshot…about 25% of this book was written in the hospital while my mother underwent TWO back surgeries. Then I lost about the first 40 pages of edits because my computer crashed (which in a MG book is pretty significant). Then the rest of the edits were done at the start of the pandemic.

Needles...

ROARING is Out Today!

“Password?” the man grunted in a thick Scottish brogue.

“The Fall of Bellerophon,” Colt answered.

The large man stepped to the side, and we were granted entrance. Colt pushed the door open, and we entered the Cerberus Club.

It really was like walking into Lucifer’s kingdom. Immediately I wanted to shed my fur coat as the heat of bodies pressing against the dark cement walls of the speakeasy threatened to strangle me. We stood on a balcony looking out over a dance floor littered with oliver twi...
