A Best Selling book!

The Kissing Tutor is OUT!

It’s the 11th book in the Sweet Water High series. One town. Eleven authors. Eleven stories. It was so much fun to write in this multi-author series. Author Lucy McConnel and I worked closely with our characters so that readers could really feel the connection between our characters, softball, and baseball.

Not only was it fun to work with the authors, but this best friends story sucked me in as I wrote it. Not only is it the best book I’ve written, it was done in record time! Tommie Jenkins, aka Tommie the tomboy, and Roan Martin, aka baseball beast, had a fun best friend spark. And their love of baseball seamed them together, that and a growing chemistry.

The Art of Taking Chances

The Art of Taking Chances anthology is available at Amazon, Angus & Robertson, Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble’s Nook, Indigo, and Kobo.

I’m so excited to have worked on this project with editor Kelsie Stelting and a talented line up of authors. These short stories are all about teens taking a chance on love and their all amazing.

Cookie O’Gorman wrote a beautiful cleaver forward, too. I’m a huge fan of Cookie’s writing. Especially her award-winning Adorkable. If you’re a fan of fun, young adult romances, reading Cookie O’Gorman is a must.

Did you see the cover? Doesn’t it say it all? It’s so cute!

The cliff jumping plays into my story, Spark, too!

Spark takes place at “the cliffs” during summer night graduation party. If you haven’t yet taken a chance on the Regan Stone series, try out this free story to get a taste of what’s to come in Regan’s life.

Swoon reading,

Sally

Behind the Scenes of Kiss Me Already

Lane Cary left for college a few months ago. His best friend turned girlfriend, Regan, is in for a surprise when she visits Lane’s college during her high school science club field trip. Eastern Illinois University’s science department is hosting their yearly Science Extravaganza. The University invites high schools all around the state to come explore the science department and what they have to offer students interested in majoring in science.

Lane’s college is a real university base on a college in Charleston, Illinois. Eastern Illinois University was founded in 1953 on a piece of property located on the south side of highway 16 right in the middle of Charleston, IL.

I took my own field trip to EIU while I was writing Kiss Me Already. It’s a pretty campus, even in the winter. (*Note: winter is not so pretty, so stating it’s a pretty campus in winter says a lot.) With a castle for an administration building, how can you go wrong? The photo I’m sharing is one I snapped of the entry of Booth Library. The photo doesn’t do it justice, but it’s quite beautiful.

Chapter 26 of Kiss Me Already has a scene where Regan twirls in the entry to take in its beauty. If you have read book one of the Regan Stone series, you already know how ready Regan is to go to college and leave her small town behind.

During her visit to EIU, she see’s Lane in his new element. He lives in a new world. A world without her. Regan gets a reality check and a healthy dose of insecurity. What does Lane get out of it?

2018 Say No to Resolutions and Yes to Goals

What does a new year mean? A new year can mean all kinds of things: the end of a good thing, going forward without someone we love, losing our job, going back to a school we hate, leaving loved ones behind, doing life alone.

Yeah, that’s the Debbie downer view—the negative Nancy’s outlook. It may be true, but do we have to keep that perspective? I admit I see life with those gloomy glasses more than I should. But what good does it do to have that kind of outlook on tomorrow? ZERO.

A new year can be a new beginning—a fresh start—a time to change for the better (Oh, boy, could I use a fresh start some days.). No, I can’t control everything in my life. I do have plenty of choices, though. So, I’m going to choose to look at tomorrow in possibilities.

I’m not a new years resolution type of person. Actually, I’ve always failed at the “resolution” thing. But goals … goals are a different animal to me. (See, I’m changing my outlook here

Christmas Wishes

Christmastime is upon us. It’s buy this, ship that—go here, go there—a house full of people, an empty house. I offer this advice during it all …

be good

be joyful

be loving

always be faithful

have some self-control

find peace in your heart

practice patience with others

be gentle with words and actions

be kind (you don’t know what that person has/is/or is about to go through)

If you know someone who’s alone this year, invite them to share a meal

with you, care for another. This is my Christmas wish for you.
