Tom Anthony graduated from West Point and spent six years as an Army officer. Following his discharge, he earned an MBA in International Business and lived all over Europe and Asia working for a large U.S. multinational as well as smaller, new technology companies. Tom lived in Mindanao for seven years, where he had close contact with military and political leaders of the highest stature. His personal observation of the struggle that continues to this day became the basis for this first novel. Tom currently resides in Southern California.

Keep a journal. A few written words will bring back a detailed memory. I clip out logos from advertisements, business cards, labels, souvenirs… and paste them into my journal on the day I was at that place, with a few words. Then I retire to be alone and to write.

Then make a plan to write 1,170 words each day. Track progress on a calendar on your desk.
Then push the tip of your pencil across a blank sheet of paper and to see what happens. Listen to yourself. And never stop pushing the pencil.

I have found that when I write honestly about a culture, the people I write about learn something about themselves that never occurred to them before.

A writer looks and listens and makes his own judgments. Then through his creativity the writer’s logic may change the world, for better or for worse.
As ideas build in my brain I flush them by writing to resolve my stress.
I cannot resist the drive to create.

All of that is what I love about being a writer.

Madrid

Arrived Madrid. On our way to our hotel we visited la Reina Sofia Museum, Santa Isabela 52, (corner of Atocha) to see works of Dali and Picasso.

We spent time studying Picasso’s “Guernica” to understand the horror of war and the bombing of innocent civilians.

We had dinner and my last vino tinto Rioja in the patio outside the museum.
