I had a lower middle class upbringing. To find direction I joined the Army. I saw my share of combat in Vietnam. Awards: Combat Medic Badge, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars with V, Air Medal, Arcom. Later, I became a social worker. Burned out, I backpacked Central America, Southeast Asia, and Indonesia, and lived abroad. My war experience and my travels inform my writing.

My work has appeared in New Millennium Writings; Cutthroat; War, Literature and the Arts; CounterPunch; Mudfish; New Madrid, Stone Canoe and elsewhere. It's forthcoming in The Comstock Review. I won the 2016 Syracuse University Institute for Veterans and Military Families Writing Prize.
