Naming the book
Naming the book
I thought long about what to name my new book. A short name of 1 to 3 words is advantageous, easy to write and to remember. I used a short name on my previous book, Retaining the Mind, and it describes the content adequately; trying to preserve the mind. However, the title is somewhat unsure. What does Retaining the Mind mean? Am I preserving my mind or your mind or the mind of some esoteric someone else? I wanted to avoid this uncertainty. I wanted the title to state that this book describes my recovery from dementia so the reader knows it contains my path to health. I decided to state that in the title, How I Recovered from Dementia. 5 words, a little long, but it tells the reader exactly what the book describes, how I reversed the brain damage from dementia. How I recovered skills in thinking, planning, speech, memory, balance, hearing, seeing and all the other skills damaged by dementia.
Some of the contents of this book are controversial! The National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health defines dementias like Alzheimer's disease as irreversible, progressive brain disorders that slowly destroy the mind. And as always lethal; it kills the afflicted. This is not true, this disease can be reversed. The title of my book shouts this good news: It says I recovered from severe dementia. Its information may help you or a loved one also recover.

A new book
A new book
How I Recovered From Dementia author: William E Walsh, MD
How I Recovered from Dementia describes my recovery from severe Alzheimer's dementia. In my preceding book, Retaining the Mind, I described the diet changes that allowed me to recover from this disease. In this book I refreshed this information. I also replaced the section that discusses how to choose foods. I replaced it with another section describing how I prepare the meals that help me fight dementia.
If you or a loved one suffers any stage of dementia, whether mild, moderate or severe, there is so much you should know to help you delay its onset and recover the mental alertness it stole from you. To continue giving you this knowledge as it becomes available, I am preparing a series of books, the Retaining the Mind series, about diet and dementia, that you can keep on your bookshelf and review to refresh your memory. And you will need to refresh your memory periodically because forgetting is normal.
I pray that my book helps you, or a loved one, recover from dementia. May it bring you the improved health, alertness and joy it brought me.
