Book Review: Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover
Hey bookworms! Welcome to chhaviandbooks. Today’s review is about Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover.
“Hearts don’t have bones. They can’t really break.”
Rating: ✰✰✰✰✰/5
~ SYNOPSIS ~
Life and a dismal last name are the only two things Beyah Grim’s parents ever gave her. After carving her path all on her own, Beyah is well on her way to bigger and better things, thanks to no one but herself.
With only two short months separating her from the future she’s built and the past she desperately wants to leave behind, an unexpected death leaves Beyah with no place to go during the interim. Forced to reach out to her last resort, Beyah has to spend the remainder of her summer on a peninsula in Texas with a father she barely knows. Beyah’s plan is to keep her head down and let the summer slip by seamlessly, but her new neighbor Samson throws a wrench in that plan.
Samson and Beyah have nothing in common on the surface.
She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they’re both drawn to sad things. Which means they’re drawn to each other. With an almost immediate connection too intense for them to continue denying, Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn’t realize is that a rip current is coming, and it’s about to drag her heart out to sea.

~ REVIEW ~
Goodness hell, I loved this book. I finished it in four days despite being cramped with studies because it was SO BEAUTIFUL, I didn’t have it in me to stop reading. Beyah’s character was amazingly heartwarming, and please don’t get me started on Samson. He was everything I could have hoped for, and then some.
I think a piece of my heart shall forever belong to this story, to its characters and to the things it made me feel. The writing style was amazing. The literary manipulation had me bawling at the plot twist!
It quickly became one of my new favourite books.
Five stars are the least I can give.
I would 10/10 recommend this book to everyone looking for a perfect summer read that’s just the right amount of love and heartbreak, rolled into a book you definitely won’t be able to put down.

Thank you so much for reading!

Chhavi xoxo

Current Reads + August TBR!
Hello, beautiful bookworms. Welcome back to chhaviandbooks, reviews and all! I’ve been away for a super long time, doing many (exciting) things, but I’m back to being a book reviewer now and it has honestly never felt better. If you want to know what amazing books I’m currently reading (and plan to read during this month), read on!
BOOK #1: The Haunting Of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
[image error]
SYNOPSIS: It is the story of four seekers who arrive at a notoriously unfriendly pile called Hill House: Dr. Montague, an occult scholar looking for solid evidence of a “haunting”; Theodora, the lighthearted assistant; Eleanor, a friendless, fragile young woman well acquainted with poltergeists; and Luke, the future heir of Hill House. At first, their stay seems destined to be merely a spooky encounter with inexplicable phenomena. But Hill House is gathering its powers—and soon it will choose one of them to make its own.
I cannot explain in words how hooked I am to every line of this book. The writing. The descriptions. The characters. Ah, good lord.
BOOK #2: RADIO SILENCE BY ALICE OSMAN
[image error]
SYNOPSIS: What if everything you set yourself up to be was wrong?
Frances has been a study machine with one goal. Nothing will stand in her way; not friends, not a guilty secret – not even the person she is on the inside. Then Frances meets Aled, and for the first time she’s unafraid to be herself.
So when the fragile trust between them is broken, Frances is caught between who she was and who she longs to be. Now Frances knows that she has to confront her past. To confess why Carys disappeared…
Frances is going to need every bit of courage she has.
I.am.so.excited.to.read.this.book. Ever since I heard Kat (youtube: paperbackdreamss) gush over Alice Osman and this book in particular, I’ve been dying to dive right into it. You hear that, exams? Just finish already. There are books waiting to be read by me.
BOOK #3: PET SEMATARY BY STEPHEN KING
[image error]
SYNOPSIS: When the Creeds move into a beautiful old house in rural Maine, it all seems too good to be true: physician father, beautiful wife, charming little daughter, adorable infant son-and now an idyllic home. As a family, they’ve got it all…right down to the friendly car. But the nearby woods hide a blood-chilling truth-more terrifying than death itself-and hideously more powerful. The Creeds are going to learn that sometimes dead is better.
Okay, I shall admit it. I’m on a bit of a horror spree. I like ghosts. Also, no horror spree is complete without a King work. So pumped for this!
BOOK #4: LIGHT AS A FEATHER BY ZOE AARSEN
[image error]
SYNOPSIS:
It was supposed to be a game…
Junior year is shaping up to be the best of McKenna Brady’s life. After a transformative summer, McKenna is welcomed into the elite group of popular girls at Weeping Willow High, led by the gorgeous Olivia Richmond. For the first time in a long time, things are looking up.
But everything changes the night of Olivia’s Sweet Sixteen sleepover. Violet, the mysterious new girl in town, suggests the girls play a game during which Violet makes up elaborate, creepily specific stories about the violent ways the friends will die. Though it unsettles McKenna, it all seems harmless at the time.
Until a week later, when Olivia dies…exactly as Violet predicted.
As Violet rises to popularity and steps into the life Olivia left unfinished, McKenna becomes convinced Olivia’s death wasn’t just a coincidence, especially when a ghost haunting her bedroom keeps leaving clues that point to Violet. With the help of her cute neighbour, Trey, McKenna pledges to get to the bottom of Violet’s secrets and true intentions before it’s too late. Because it’s only a matter of time before more lives are lost.
Keeping with the horror spree, I’m also super super super excited to be reading the published version of one of my favourite Wattpad novels of all time, Light as a Feather! This book was stunning as a Wattpad work, and I can’t wait to see what the new edition has in store for me.
That’s all I plan to read this month, let’s hope I have a good time (and hopefully, some nightmares!).
What are you reading this month? Let me know in the comments!

SYNOPSIS
“I can’t stop thinking about him, and we’ve been together for two hours. If two freaking hours with him can make me delirious, I’m not sure what spending a day with him might be like.
It might result in oblivion.”
Sixteen-year-old Lissa Mehra doesn’t care for life outside her busy city, Spring Park. She’s one week away from starting her much-awaited junior year at Park High alongside her childhood best friends when her parents drop the bomb—they’re leaving for a couple’s cruise across the oceans. Without her.
Left with no choice but to move into her uncle’s house in a faraway hillside town called Juniper Hills, luxury-lover Lissa is nowhere near prepared for town life.
What could happen in a small town in just six months?
A lot. Suddenly, Lissa is bonding with her extended family, making new friends, working part-time at a café (who knew) and maybe, just maybe, she’s falling in love with green-eyed, English-accented bad boy, Asher Prince.
Dive into the magic of Juniper Hills with this hilarious, swoon-worthy rollercoaster YA novel that is also a beloved Wattpad sensation.

Story time: Keep You Forever
Hey loves! Welcome to a new and much better blog. In today’s post, I’ll be sharing with you the answer to a few frequently asked questions, and spilling the beans on my weird but still pretty awesome writing process. Let’s dive right in!
FAQ: Where did you get the idea for Keep You Forever?
Answer: If you guys didn’t know, I published a completed Young Adult romance titled ‘Keep You Forever’ over on Wattpad a few months ago, and it now has over 2K+ reads online. You can read the synopsis and story here.
I get asked a lot about how the story originated, and how I built my characters up: basically my entire writing process.
The truth is, I get a lot of my story ideas through songs. This case isn’t any different.
When I listened to Polaroid for the first time, in my head, there was only one picture. Two people walking through a sleeping town at night, singing at the top of their lungs and capturing each other in photographs.
Yes, I built an entire story on that picture.
That story goes by the name of Keep You Forever.
Here are a few cliche but amazing elements I used in my story:
City VS Town
Bad boy, good girl
A mean girl turned good
Love Triangle
Super Rich Bad Boy Hero
Serenely beautiful town setting
A Happy Ending
Lots of drama and plot twists
FAQ: The Development of Asher Prince
A lot of people ask me if Asher is, in fact, based on a crush or someone in my life. The answer is, hell no.
I mean, if I had that guy, I know I wouldn’t be wasting my time writing hopelessly romantic stories.
(i would be busy somewhere else, if you know what I mean ;))
FAQ: Is Lissa like you?
Yes, bitch.
Lissa isn’t like me.
She IS me. Lissa is exactly me, and basing a character upon myself made me realise a lot about how I react in certain situations, which improved my overall understanding of myself.
Do we look alike, though?
Nope.
You can find pictures of me on my Instagram, which is @chhaviandbooks. See for yourself, people.
FAQ: Is there gonna be a sequel?
Short answer: no.
There is a reason the ending was open ended–I don’t think I left any loose strings to tie in a second book.
If you wanna read something cute but at the same time insanely hot, check out my other book Shall Be King!
FAQ: Is this the end?
I am working on a revised and expanded version, because my dream is to one day publish this book with a reputed publisher. I’m not someone who will wait for my book to reach millions of views to get it published. I believe in my writing, and I know for a fact that a published version is the right way to go about it.
Stay tuned for updates!
Thank you for reading this. Thank you for believing in these characters and in me, even when I didn’t. Thank you.
See you all soon with more,
Chhavi xx

Where I’ve been all this time…I’m back!
Hey bookworms! As you can see, I haven’t really been here recently.
Mostly because I’ve been away at Wattpad, writing amazing Young Adult stories that are making people swoon (not to brag, but it’s true!).
I currently have one finished novel titled Keep You Forever and one on-going novel called Shall Be King available to read under my id: chhavi4778.
Here are the synopsis for your pleasure:
Keep You Forever
When sixteen-year-old Lissa Ray arrives at the quiet hillside town of Juniper Hills, she doesn’t expect much. Fresh from a big city, she knows she’s only there until her parents figure out their marital issues. What’s the most that could happen in a small town in just six months?
But Lissa didn’t count on meeting her extended family and other town kids at Juniper Hills. Instead of being the star-student-slash-amazing-photographer she used to be back home, here she’s the SPOILED RICH COUSIN FROM THE BIG CITY. To add to the mix, there’s Asher Prince. The famous, charming senior at Juniper Hills High. Cocky, adorable and OH SO HOT. He’s tall, green-eyed, has a body to die for and makes Lissa forget the world.
All Lissa wants is to belong.
What will she do when the boy everyone asks her to stay away from becomes the person who makes Juniper Hills feel like home? What happens when this good city girl falls for the town-bred bad boy in the most romantic town EVER?
You’ll have to read to find out!
CAUTION: This story might make your heart melt with romance, soar with laughter and break with emotion. Also, it might make you want to pack your bags and find your Juniper Hills.
Shall Be King
Aditi Keeper just can’t wait to start her senior year at a prestigious boarding school in North Lake.
It’s all she needs before starting college at Oxford. She doesn’t have any time for distractions.
But Aditi never imagined meeting her girly-bombshell roommate Alison. And Allison’s friend-the mysterious and super hot Colson Scott.
He’s enviably British, ocean eyed, and makes Aditi feel things she’s never felt before.
He’s also hiding a secret that could destroy their love completely.
As Aditi is drawn into Colson’s world, more and more questions arise. Can Aditi find out the truth about Colson without risking her dreams–and her heart–in the process?
Hoping to see you guys there! Happy Reading, loves.
Best wishes,
Chhavi

MAY TBR: Stacking the shelves!
Hey loves! I have, noticeably, been MIA for very long. I took an unexpected hiatus for my exams, and then fell severely ill. Hence, my screen time was reduced to minimal, nothing except working on my book.
But now I’m back, and I can’t wait to share what I’ve been wanting to read with you! Let’s start:
FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell
[image error]
Yes! Sigh, sigh, I finally got this book. I had been seeing this floating around for so long now, but somehow never got to reading it. Now that it’s finally in my hands, I can’t wait to dive into this goodness!
BLURB:
For Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to. Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words… And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone. For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories? And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?
2. TWO CAN KEEP A SECRET by Karen M. McManus
[image error]
Hello, murder mystery! As you all may already know, I’m a whole murder mystery fangirl. I mean, Pretty Little Liars is my holy grail TV show, so when I saw this book on Goodreads I couldn’t resist buying it. Review coming soon!
BLURB:
Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery’s never been there, but she’s heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age seventeen.
And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows. The town is picture-perfect, but it’s hiding secrets.
And before school even begins for Ellery, someone’s declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing. Ellery knows all about secrets. Her mother has them; her grandmother does too. And the longer she’s in Echo Ridge, the clearer it becomes that everyone there is hiding something.
The thing is, secrets are dangerous–and most people aren’t good at keeping them. Which is why in Echo Ridge, it’s safest to keep your secrets to yourself.
3. One of Us is Lying- Karen M. McManus
[image error]
Okay, I think I might be a little too awestruck by Karen’s writing style and her irresistible book plots. I can’t wait to hop on the journey!!!!
BLURB: On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.
Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention, Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?
Everyone has secrets, right? What really matters is how far you would go to protect them.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
That’s all on my TBR for May! Have you read any of these books? Tell me your thoughts about them in the comments.
Until next time, keep reading.
