Jack deepened his stare at her. She was nothing he expected. “Do you have a horrendous name? Is it Bertha or something?”

His unexpected humor caught her off guard. Sure, she was being a tad over the top by not telling him her name, especially after she acted like his girlfriend, but she didn’t want the moment to end.

“I’ll tell you my name if you answer some questions for me.”

Jack took another sip of his drink. “I’ll give you three questions if you do the same for me.”

"Deal,” she said and since they were still holding hands, they shook on it before she pulled away. There was something too intimate with how close they were sitting next to each other with their hands touching that made her second guess her plan of only one night of fun. Anything more was an unnecessary distraction, she reminded herself.

Peak at That One Night

Nothing like friends to tell you the truth. Read below to see what Lucy’s friends said after her one night stand with Jack. And, if you didn’t get your copy yet, get THAT ONE NIGHT for $2.99 at Amazon, BN, Kobo, and Apple. xo

“LOOK AT OUR girl with nothing but a satisfied smile on her face, owning her walk of shame!” Sofia clapped the second Lucy slid into the booth next to Tess.

Sure, she had a smile on her face. Who wouldn’t after a night filled with sex and orgasms? Despite the grin, Lucy realized she was a bit of a coward since she walked out on him. She didn’t even leave her number. Did she make the right move? Jack would always be a memory of a man who was everything she wanted, but for one night. She sat up tall at the table, she wanted her career more than some man.

“What did he say when you left?” Tess was ever the worry wart.

Sofia rolled her eyes. “Who cares? It wasn’t like she was planning a future with him.”

Tess wasn’t dropping it. “How do you know?”

Enough was enough. Lucy wasn’t going to let her waffles go to waste as her friends tried to decipher what happened with Jack. “He didn’t say anything because I didn’t tell him I was leaving.”

Lucy expected her friends to acknowledge this and move on, but to her surprise, even Sofia was dismayed.

“You snuck out?” Sofia practically cringed.

“And didn’t bother to wake him or leave a note?”

Lucy tugged her hair into a messy bun on the top of her head, really adding value to her outfit and makeup from the night before. “I wouldn’t call it sneaking out.”

Even though it totally was.

She couldn’t find her underwear and was thankful her dress hit her knees because she hightailed it out of there sans panties. That detail she kept to herself because, well, it made it sound like she was running from him.

Which she wasn’t.

“And I didn’t leave a note because we aren’t pen pals.”

Sofia paused for a second. “Still though, you left his house like you were escaping Alcatraz.”

This was complete crap, coming from Sofia, who was the queen of no commitment.

“How can you say that? You were the one telling me to leave.”

“There is a big difference between leave and sneak. You’re lucky you won’t see him again because now it looks like you ran off.”

Tess shook her head with disappointment. “Like you used him for sex.”

Lucy wasn’t letting her early departure ruin breakfast with her two best friends.
