Favorite Books of 2023

This has been a busy year for me. I moved recently, I've been cracking down on writing a short story in preparation for Sinful Signings in September, and of course I have been reading like a maniac.

I wanted to share some of my favorite books of the year so far and what about them caught my attention.

Godkiller - Hands down THE best fantasy I have read all year. The inclusivity, the plot, the characters, the lush writing- this is going to be a tough one to beat.

Dark Water Daughter - A close second to Godkiller. Long is one of my favorite authors and this new pirate fantasy is full of new lore and lush characters that will keep you swooning for more.

One Dark Window - One of the easiest 5 stars this year. I absolutely loved the unique magic system and the relatable characters.

Knot So Lucky - WOW! Of course I love how incredibly spicy this was, but what I enjoyed more, was how genuinely funny this book was. This one really caught me by surprise and I'm so happy I stepped out of my comfort zone to read it.

Fourth Wing - Let's face it. Everyone loves this book. I think this is a fantastic starter for anyone interested in diving into fantasy for the first time.

The Fall of Souls - My favorite indie read this year...and probably my favorite indie read in general. I've always had a love for Egyptian mythology, but Moreau really pulls you in with this beautiful romance. She quickly became one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to devour her next book.

Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments if you have and what you thought of them.

I've been nominated in Charleston, SC!

I've been nominated for Best Local Author for Best of Charleston 2024.

Whoohoo!!

I was born and raised in Charleston and winning the award would be an absolute honor. There are so many great writers in my city that I would love to be recognized with. (Stacy Willingham author of A Flicker in the Dark, Grady Hendrix author of How to Sell a Haunted House, Signe Pike author of Fairy Tale, and so many more!)

Voting is now through March 22. The link below takes you director to the author voting and it takes two seconds. (No, you don't have to keep voting for the other categories after you vote for me. No pressure, but also, I'm not stopping you!)
