Finnegan Publishing Group

I've been doing a bit of reflection of late.

I started my publishing house in 2022 in order to better market my own books. This last year I decided to publish an anthology where I invited indie authors from across the country to to submit short stories for a dark fiction collection. After months of hard work, As Above So Below: An Indie Author Dark Fiction Anthology, is near completion. It will be officially published on October 1, 2024 with an event release part to be held on November 2, 2024 in Charleston, SC.

At the end of July I lost Finnegan, whom my house was named after. I was fortunate enough to have had 11 years with him.

To say this month has been bittersweet is putting it lightly. I'm excited for how well FPG has been doing. I am glad to have named something close to me after someone who was so very important and will live on forever in name. But man, has it been tough.

As Above So Below is the first of many anthologies I hope to publish. I hope you will continue to stick with me as I navigate this next chapter of my life and join us in the next coming months to celebrate the release of this new book and all the authors who put their craft into it.

As Above So Below: An Indie Author Dark Fiction Anthology

Readers!
I have fantastic news. If you haven't already noticed, I have a new book under my name along side several other talented writers. As Above So Below is the first book I will be publishing under my house, Finnegan Publishing Group!

I am beyond excited to present you with this book and introduce you to authors you've maybe never read before. Every story is absolutely fantastic. I knew we had a talented crew, but the stories truly blew me out of the water!

In addition, Emma Hamm has written our foreword. She recently came out with Whispers of the Deep, my new personal favorite book by her.

Now, for the updates. We will be publishing this anthology through Kickstarter. The prelaunch will go live in the next couple of weeks for you to save and track. The Kickstarter (ordering process) will start on July 1, 2024. You will have 30 days to submit your order. You will not be able to get this anthology online otherwise. This might change down the road, but for now this is your one and only opportunity so you do NOT want to miss you.

In order for this anthology to succeed we need your help, so if you haven't already, please add it to your TBR list! We have several goodies attached to the reward tiers outside of the book itself.

Oh, and one last thing....ARC forms are open! The information is on my social media (@shewriteswithknives) but feel free to message me directly here, or comment below, and I will be happy to provide you the link to submit your interest.

Thank you for all of your support. I'm looking forward to sharing this special collection with you.

xo,

I've been nominated in Charleston, SC!

I've been nominated for Best Local Author for Best of Charleston 2024.

Whoohoo!!

I was born and raised in Charleston and winning the award would be an absolute honor. There are so many great writers in my city that I would love to be recognized with. (Stacy Willingham author of A Flicker in the Dark, Grady Hendrix author of How to Sell a Haunted House, Signe Pike author of Fairy Tale, and so many more!)

Voting is now through March 22. The link below takes you director to the author voting and it takes two seconds. (No, you don't have to keep voting for the other categories after you vote for me. No pressure, but also, I'm not stopping you!)

Favorite Books of 2023

This has been a busy year for me. I moved recently, I've been cracking down on writing a short story in preparation for Sinful Signings in September, and of course I have been reading like a maniac.

I wanted to share some of my favorite books of the year so far and what about them caught my attention.

Godkiller - Hands down THE best fantasy I have read all year. The inclusivity, the plot, the characters, the lush writing- this is going to be a tough one to beat.

Dark Water Daughter - A close second to Godkiller. Long is one of my favorite authors and this new pirate fantasy is full of new lore and lush characters that will keep you swooning for more.

One Dark Window - One of the easiest 5 stars this year. I absolutely loved the unique magic system and the relatable characters.

Knot So Lucky - WOW! Of course I love how incredibly spicy this was, but what I enjoyed more, was how genuinely funny this book was. This one really caught me by surprise and I'm so happy I stepped out of my comfort zone to read it.

Fourth Wing - Let's face it. Everyone loves this book. I think this is a fantastic starter for anyone interested in diving into fantasy for the first time.

The Fall of Souls - My favorite indie read this year...and probably my favorite indie read in general. I've always had a love for Egyptian mythology, but Moreau really pulls you in with this beautiful romance. She quickly became one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to devour her next book.

------

Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments if you have and what you thought of them.

Writing Updates

As I am sure many of you are aware, I have started work on the prequel to the Revelation series that will follow a new character set within Tartarus (Hell). Leah's third book is still in the works, but I have felt the prequel is more important at this time as it will explain how the demons were able to come into our world and why their power has started to wane.

If you haven't joined my author Facebook group, be sure to do so as there is an opportunity to read the first chapter of my current WIP!

Book Release and Updates

Good morning dear readers!

I wanted to remind you all that Through High Waters officially releases THIS week, December 1, 2022.

If you were a beta reader, there have been significant changes in the book since you last read it. If you were an ARC reader, there have been significant edits and two minor scene changes.

So while the story may be familiar, it is brand new and completely polished!

For those of you unaware, during the ARC process, I discovered half of my book was not edited. Prior to this, my editor had led me to believe the book was good to go and "perfect". It was to my complete horror and embarrassment to find thousands of errors.

By saving grace, my old editor for After the Bees (who had been on hiatus to focus on her own books) reached out and said she was back in business and asked if I needed any help. What timing!!! She graciously fixed Through High Waters, easing my worry.

It has been a rough couple of months, but now we are days away from the release and I could not be more excited to present you with this beautiful piece of work.

In addition, the prequel to Leah's story is in full force, as well as her third book. The prequel is taking priority and turning out to be a monster of a book that will answer a ton of questions and give you more insight on how the demons were able to possess the world.

Thank you for all of your support and reads. It means the world to me. Without you, none of my success would be possible. I am thankful for each and every one of you.

Be sure to head over to my website to sign up for my newsletter or my Facebook group for sneak peeks and early access.

I'll be writing to you soon.

Pre Orders: Through High Waters

Through High Waters is available for pre order now through the end of the month on Kickstarter. By grabbing a copy through Kickstarter you will have the option to add on additional goodies like character art, necklaces, extra chapters, deleted scenes, and even be written as a character in my next book!

Link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

All ebook preorders can be done through Amazon.

Release is set for December 12, 2022.

Through High Waters is my second book and second in the Revelation series that follows Leah, a young woman trapped in our world after the fall of humanity and a demon apocalypse ensues. In this next chapter, she is taken back into a demon kingdom ruled by a ruthless king named Orias. What makes matters worse is that Orias and Raum have a past.

I will venture to say it is a bit darker than After the Bees, but just as fast-paced. You will be on the edge of your seat until the very last page!

Don't believe me? Head over to my reviews to see what my ARC readers have to say about it.

I hope you will give THW a chance. To everyone that has, thank you. This has been quite the journey and without you none of this would be possible.

Very best,

Allison Paige

The Conflict of Raum

I get a lot of comments from my readers how conflicted they are towards Raum. He is the kind of evil that you cannot only accept, but forgive him for his wickedness. What makes Raum evil isn't just the fact that he is a demon, it's how manipulative and very human he can be.

Raum is modeled after every toxic relationship I've ever been in. That's not to say the men of my past are evil, but a lot of them were not good and truth be told, some of them have done evil things. I see many people: friends, acquaintances, and strangers; falling into these same types of relationships. Movies and books romanticize mental and physical abuse. Toxicity is not something to be sought after. And yet, we do. We crave it. There is something lush and dangerous about loving someone who has the power to hurt us.

Let me be clear that After the Bees is not a romance, though Raum tries time and again to make Leah believe she is in love with him. If Leah is in love, her need to be close to him will become dependency. He will be able to gaslight her more easily and manipulate her into believing his will is her own. He is easy to forgive because, for a demon, he is kind. It is unexpected and therefore, it must be genuine.

He is the one who breaks you down and kisses you sweetly, telling you how sorry he is for hurting you. He is the one that promises you it will never happen again. He is the one you cry to your friends about but turn around just as quickly to say "but he will change" and "when he is good he is so good". This is why Raum is so easy to hate and love at the same time. He is familiar to you. You have come across his kind at least once in your life. Despite the sickness in him there is something about him that demands love and attention. It is something that you crave despite his wrongness.

Add this familiarity to his intelligence. He is an immortal being full of infinite knowledge that is always three steps ahead of those around him. He can perform "miracles" and illusions that strike both awe and fear into humans and demons alike.

Raum is, in a sense, the perfect evil.

I am looking forward to sharing with you the way his character continues to evolve as The Revelation Series continues.
