I don't know how to best express my feelings at this moment. So I thought writing it down might help. A random, unedited blog. In all of its flaws.
Have you ever had an unexpected tragedy in your life? A family member or longtime pet pass away? Failed something that you put a chunk of time into? Disappointed a mentor or loved one? Did something to lead to or witnessed someone else being harmed, either emotionally or physically?
Well--I feel like all of those happened at once.
Watching the fall of Afghanistan has me chained to a chair. Hands behind my back. Feet in thick metal shackles that are bolted to the ground. Mouth taped shut. And watching all of the above happen--right in front of my face. Just out of reach if I struggled with everything I had.
I want to fight--to scream--to help-- but I am in chains. And those chains were placed on me by the country that I was willing to die for.
At the end of the day--I know that I will find strength, but I need time and need to do something to help. This is not the end. Nope--not on my watch.
