KNIGHT'S SEDUCTION now live!
It's been a while since I've written a blog post. My life has been incredibly busy since my last post. Between my personal life, my author life, and my day job, I've been running in circles trying not to lose my sanity.
But my writing, my interactions with readers, and my interactions with fellow authors - these help to keep me sane. These are the reason I keep going because I find joy in these things.
That's why I was so excited to not only release Knight's Seduction but to see its success during launch week. This was the best launch week since I started this journey, and I've gotten amazing feedback from readers on the book and the series. That just makes my heart so happy!
It's bittersweet to think about the fact that Knight's Seduction: Contemporary Romantic Suspense is the next to last book in the Knights of KSI series. That means there's one book left before my debut series is complete. My mind is blown!
It feels like yesterday (thought it was 2019) when I started writing this series. Those of you who follow me know that I wrote Knight's Rescue first thinking it would be the one that would launch the series. Once I wrote it, I decided to go back and write Knight's Haven as a prequel, but by the time I completed it, I decided it needed to be Book One and not just a prequel.
The series was meant to be five books originally - featuring Cole, Jay, Zane, BB and Wings. Well, as the series went on, the other characters spoke to me, and readers spoke to me. I started getting questions about other characters and whether they'd get their stories. So I ended up adding four more to the series - featuring Brick, Sam, Isobel and, of course, Tristin.
I decided to end the series at Book 9. (I apologize to those of you who cringe at the idea of having an odd number of books.) But you won't see the last of the Knights of KSI. I have two spin-offs planned for these characters once the original series ends. The first will be KSI Elite. The second will be Knights of KSI: Delta. I'll write more about this at a later time, but I wanted to mention them because the questions keep coming about other characters.
If you haven't read Knight's Seduction: Contemporary Romantic Suspense, I hope you plan to do so very soon. This story was fun to write and just flowed so well. I never expected BB and Gennessey to end up together when I first introduced her character, but once I did, the idea took hold. I love the two of them together. I love how they support each other without trying to change who they are.
I also loved focusing on family in this one. Gennessey comes from a huge family, so keeping track of all of her relatives in my head felt more like punishment than creativity. But I'm glad I stuck with it, and I hope you were able to follow along with me. Family is important to me, so you'll see that theme quite a bit in my books.
If you read Knight's Seduction: Contemporary Romantic Suspense, I hope you'll take the time to leave a review. Reviews are so critical to authors in getting their books seen, and they are a way for us to know how you enjoyed the book. They are a way for us to connect with readers as much as they are a way to promote the books. So please consider leaving a review, even if it's just a few words.
Happy reading!

New Series Releases in December!
Happy October! I hope you're enjoying the fall weather and that the leaves where you are are showing off with brilliant color.
I recently announced some big news that I wanted to share with you through my newsletter. Be on the lookout in December for a new series!
Don't worry...If you're a fan of the KNIGHTS OF KSI series, I will continue with it. The final two books in the series are set to release in 2023, and you'll see your favorites - BB, Sam and Chloe. (Yes, Chloe gets her happily ever after!)
But I've had the idea for this new series rolling around in my head for a while. I decided now was the time to introduce it to my readers. The plan now is for this to be a short series with a total of four books. It's still the contemporary romantic suspense you've come to expect from me.
MEET THE LEGENDS OF FIRE CREEK
They were once wayward boys until they were taken under the wing of the original Legend. They grew under his tutelage to become vigilantes who look after those who aren’t able to help themselves. They are loners thrown together in an unconventional family, living with secrets that shaped them into the men they’ve become. It’s the life they’ve chosen — until they meet the women who show them what it means to be loved and accepted for who they are.
BOOK ONE
Legends: Jackson
REAGAN
Reagan Bell lives in a world of mystery and murder, all woven in her imagination. Her career as a crime novelist is pushing her toward success, but her life is derailed with the news her father is fighting for his life. Reagan is forced into the world of English Barlowe and quickly learns her father has secrets that belong more in fiction than the real world. His career as the former CIA operative Legend has danger lurking around every corner, threatening those he holds dear, including Reagan and the group of adopted boys she never knew existed.
JACKSON
Jackson Moore leads the new generation of Legends — boys rescued from dangerous circumstances and raised to become vigilantes. Their skills come in handy when helping those in need. Now that danger has struck close to home, they’ll face their toughest case yet, finding the ones responsible for almost killing the man who raised them.
But with English in a coma, Jackson is faced with more questions than answers — including why his hero would keep his daughter a secret and why would English give his power of attorney to the daughter who disowned him instead of the boys who carried on his legacy.
Reagan and Jackson are at odds over the man they both have known as father. Pushing through their bitterness and hurt, they have to work together to stop the threat against their family. Will their search for the truth be too much to overcome?
LEGENDS: JACKSON is now available for preorder. The release date is Tuesday, December 13!

KNIGHT'S FALL Release
It's been a while since I've made a blog post. I've been busy with my day job and my family, but I've also been working on the next release in the KNIGHTS OF KSI Series.
Knight's Fall releases Tuesday! I can hardly believe I'm publishing my seventh book. This one is my favorite that I've written so far.
All of the KSI favorites make a return in this one, but the story centers around our favorite KSI pilot, Griffin "Wings" Tyler. An injury has put Wings on the sidelines, and he's bitter about it. The last thing he expects is for his quirky neighbor to breeze into his life and turn it upside down.
Courtlyn McNeal is a dreamer whose luck runs hot and cold. She has a crush on her "sexy neighbor", but she hasn't had the courage to make a move. They're first encounter was anything but pleasant, but their paths continue to cross.
Wings thinks it's better to leave Courtlyn in the friend zone, but the more they're together, the more he realizes she is moving out of the friend zone and quickly into the girlfriend zone.
I love the banter between these two characters, and I loved how their relationship developed. But of course, it wouldn't be a romantic suspense without some conflict thrown in.
In this case, Courtlyn finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and is at the mercy of a serial killer. Wings has no idea how to find her or if he's too late to help her, but with all of KSI joining in the search, he's hoping they can pull out a miracle.
I hope you'll check out Knight's Fall, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. The ebook goes live tomorrow, but the paperback is already live!

KNIGHT'S DESIRE releases Tuesday!
It's finally here!
My first release of 2022 is Book Six of the Knights of KSI Series, Knight's Desire. It's available for preorder now, and it will launch on Tuesday, March 8.
This is the story of Mason "Brick" Coffey, an investigator with Knight Security and Investigations. Brick has been a part of this series from the beginning, so those of you who have been fans since Book One, here's the book you've been asking for!
Brick is a rough-around-the-edges kind of guy. He loves beer and barbecue, action movies and the great outdoors, guns and trucks and taking down bad guys. He's protective of and loyal to those he loves, and he has a soft spot for the women and children in his life.
Enter Hope Robertson, who owns the bridal boutique next to KSI. She is French food and fine wine, lace and sparkle, potpourri and high heels and all things creative. She's been focused on building her business and pursuing her dream of designing and selling wedding gowns.
Someone is messing with Hope's orderly life, but no one believes the random occurrences are anything but her imagination. She's certain she's not paranoid, but she has moments where she wonders if she's not losing her mind. Then the strange incidents escalate to vandalism and threats. Brick and the team at KSI step in to keep her safe and track down the person responsible for terrorizing her. But Hope's stalker has other plans...
Brick takes this case personally. He vows to do whatever it takes to keep Hope safe. Because when it's all said and done, he plans to show her how they are more right than wrong.
This was a fun story to write, and it may be my favorite so far. If not, it ranks close to the top. The cover is also a favorite. It's gorgeous, right??!!
I hope you take an opportunity to read KNIGHT'S DESIRE, and if you will, take the time to leave a review.

KNIGHT'S HOLIDAY is here!
I can't believe Knight's Holiday released today! This is my first holiday book, and I'm excited to cross something off of my bucket list. This is Book Five of my Knights of KSI series, and it's my first time to feature a female as the lead main character.
Isobel Garcia is an investigator with Knight's Security and Investigation. Up until this book, she's been a bit of an enigma. She seems to know the answers before anyone knows they need them. She's there when anyone needs her. She's stealthy and tough and a great friend. But when it comes to knowing what makes Isobel tick and knowing what she's like when she's not at work, that has been a mystery.
That's the way she wants it. Her whole life has been about being there for others. Opening herself up, even to those she's closest to, sets her up to be hurt, and she's had enough hurt to last a lifetime.
It was going to take a special man to break through the walls Isobel built around her heart. That's where Egan O'Connor comes in.
Egan is a doctor who's devoted his whole life to helping people. He owes his life to his older brother, so when Teague goes missing, he drops everything to start a search.
But in the sleepy little town of Stonewick, Virginia (completely made up town by the way), no one wants Teague O'Connor to be found, and they do whatever it takes to stop Egan. That's how Egan winds up injured in the middle of a snowstorm, and Isobel rescues him. Her plans are to treat his injuries and send him on his way, so she can go back to her quiet holiday alone.
But Egan needs her help, and Isobel starts sensing this town that she loves may be hiding a dirty little secret. She feels compelled to find out what's going on, so she agrees to help Egan.
What follows are some adventure, some suspense, some new faces and some familiar ones, if you've been following my Knights of KSI series. Of course, there's an HEA, but this won't be the last time we see Egan and Isobel. They will make appearances as the series continues.
If you're planning to read Knight's Holiday, let me know what you think of the book. If you would like to leave a review on Goodreads, Amazon or Bookbub, I would appreciate that so much!
Thanks for following my writing journey. I hope you love my stories and my characters as much as I do!

What's next?
I've had some questions about who is going to be featured next in my Knights of KSI series. I've changed my mind about that a few times as this series has progressed, but I was inspired when it came to Book 5, due in part because of the timing and in part because of a dream of mine I'll get to cross off my bucket list.
Book 5, Knight's Holiday, will feature the mysterious investigator Isobel Garcia. Yes, for this book the KSI "knight" is actually a woman. A bit of a departure from what I've written so far, but I am enjoying this story. I hope you will too.
When I started this series, I had in mind to keep it to just the first Alpha Team members - Jay, Cole, Zane, Wings and BB. As I've written the series, other characters have demanded their time in the spotlight, such as Tristin, Isobel, Brick and Sam. (And yes, for those of you who have been so faithful to follow my series, Chloe will get her HEA. She deserves it, and her long-awaited story will come at the end of the series.)
Back to Book 5...I've been fascinated by Isobel's character. Strange to say, I realize, since I created her. But it seems like that no matter how much I write about her, the more she surprises me. She's fearless and fierce, both traits I love in a heroine. She cares for other people even as she keeps to herself. She loves her KSI family deeply, but her heart belongs to her German Shepherd, Mo.
I love stories with dogs, don't you? And Mo is awesome. He has his own personality, and he's super smart. Together, Mo and Isobel are awesome.
Knight's Holiday is set to be up for preorder in October with the release coming in November, just in time for the Christmas holidays. More details on Book 5 are forthcoming, and I'm excited to share them with you.

KNIGHT'S JOURNEY is here!
For those of you who have become fans of the KNIGHTS OF KSI Series, the story a lot of you have been waiting for is here! Introducing the story of Zane Wilder and Bridget Kincaid in Knight's Journey.
Zane has been fighting his feelings for his friend and co-worker, Sydney Reede, the heroine of Knight's Rescue (Book Two). The problem is that Sydney is engaged to his teammate Cole Atwood, and Zane has agreed to give Sydney away on her wedding day.
So what does the Alpha Team member do? He runs...straight into an undercover assignment to take down infamous gun runners. The De la Pena crime family was introduced in Knight's Temptation (Book Three).
So yes, that are references to previous books in the series. And yes, there are updates on some of our favorite characters from the previous books. But they are all standalone books. I want readers to read any of my books that interest them without having to worry about any kind of order. I've discovered some of my favorite authors this way, so this is a trend I definitely wanted to continue.
Now back to Knight's Journey. The story picks up a year into Zane's undercover operation. A meeting gone wrong has him crossing paths with Bridget Kincaid, who has recently moved her small family to Grayson Cove. Bridget is raising her teenage niece and nephew, but their grandparents are pulling out all the stops to steal custody away from her.
Zane and his three older sisters were raised by a single mom after their father's unexpected death. He understands Bridget's situation and is convinced to help her keep custody of her niece and nephew.
Bridget is smart and sassy and independent and smart and human. She's everything I love in a heroine, and she's everything Zane needs in his life. But our hero is torn - between the case he wants to close and the woman he wants to help. Throw into the mix their red hot chemistry, and complications ensue!
In keeping with any Shelley Justice book, this is a contemporary, romantic suspense story with a HEA. And a heads up for my faithful readers, there's a pleasant surprise at the end that I hope will having you saying, "Awwwwww!" I know I did when I wrote it.
Knight's Journey releases Tuesday, July 20, but it is up for preorder now! The ebook is ready, and I'm hoping the paperback will be ready when the book goes live tomorrow. Those of you with a Kindle Unlimited subscription will be able to read the ebook for free.
I hope you check out KNIGHT'S JOURNEY and leave a review here on Goodreads or on Amazon and Bookbub to let me know what you think. Happy reading!

Another Milestone
I reached another milestone in my journey as a published author. I had my first book signing in Tampa on June 6, 2021.
I'll tell you, I was nervous. I'm not sure why. I have friends within the writers' group that hosted the signing, and they were extremely helpful with preparing me on what to bring and what to expect. But my levels of excitement and nervousness were about the same...very high.
I had a blast. I loved talking with fellow authors and meeting readers. I loved talking about my books. As far as first book signings go, this couldn't have been better.
As I count the milestones on this journey, I grow more certain that this is what I'm meant to do. My community of authors and readers are my people - my tribe. Writing is what brings me joy (in addition to my family and friends).
If you're a reader, thank you for supporting me through this journey and for loving my books as I do. If you're an author who has supported me, thank you for sharing your experiences with me.
Now on to the next milestone...

WIP
I didn't write a blog post for April because I was busy writing my work-in-progress. It's not finished, but it's coming along. I'm enjoying this story so much, so I thought I'd share a little of it with you.
My WIP is Book Four in my Knights of KSI series, and it's entitled Knight's Journey. If you've followed my series up to this point, then you are familiar with this hero, and I have to say he's one of my favorite characters.
Zane Wilder is one of the original members of KSI's Alpha Team. He's the epitome of the cliché "tall, dark and handsome," and he's a man of few words. He's a protector, and that's probably one of the things I love most about him.
The heroine is new to my readers. Bridget Kincaid lives her life on her own terms. She's independent and stubborn, but what I love about her is her big heart. She loves taking care of other people, and despite her carefree lifestyle, she chose a career where she spends every day taking care of other people. She's a nurse in a hospital, and with the crazy time we've been living in the last year and a half, I have come to believe that nurses are modern-day superheroes.
The one thing these two characters have in common is their love and devotion to family. Zane was raised by a single mother and is one of four siblings. He's the youngest and the only boy.
Bridget is close to her parents. Her older sister was her best friend. And her niece and nephew are her everything.
If you love slow burn romances, Knight's Journey can be classified as one of those. Of course, it has the drama and suspense that I love to write as well. And as always, you can look forward to a happily ever after.
As an added bonus, you'll be able to catch up on your favorite characters from the first three in the series, Knight's Haven, Knight's Rescue, and Knight's Temptation.
Knight's Journey will be going up for preorder this month. I don't have a date yet, so stay tuned for more info about that. Thank you to all of you who have read my books. Your support means more than I can ever say.
Now I'm back to the writing cave to finish my WIP.

Go-To Genres
I know of some authors who write in one genre, but never read any books in that genre. I am not one of those.
My go-to reading genre is romantic suspense. The suspense sucks me into the story and keeps me turning the page time and again. The romance speaks to me. It makes me feel, makes me wistful, and makes me inspired to continue with my own writing.
But I do not have only one go-to genre. I like to mix it up. I love sweet romance and contemporary romance. Without suspense driving these storylines, the characters typically take centerstage, and I love me some engaging characters, especially if they're real with their flaws and quirky sense of humors and all the characteristics that make readers fall in love with them.
I love a mystery, especially if there are romantic elements in it (no surprise there). I love attempting to figure out the whodunit, but what I love in a good mystery is a twist that I never see coming. If it keeps me on my toes, it's usually a favorite for me.
I don't typically read young adult, paranormal or fantasy, but there are some that were referred to me that I ended up enjoying. So as I've said time and again, as long as the book is well-written and tells a good story, it's one I would read.
I have also fallen into reading pop culture favorites, such as the Harry Potter series, the Hunger Games and the Divergent series. These are another example of how I get invested in great characters.
Characters can make or break a book for me. I have on more than one occasion not finished a book because there was something about one of the main characters that I disliked. Characters are everything, in my opinion.
And another favorite of mine - a genre that I wouldn't mind writing in except I'm totally intimidated by all the research that's involved in this type of books - is historical romance. It can be regency, westerns, highlanders, you name it. I love getting lost in a different time period, and while there are a lot of popular tropes in this genre, there are also many options for unique twists to the story.
What's your go-to genre - the type of books that put you in your comfort zone and are the ones you go to when you need to escape this crazy world?
