When digg…moreAs a therapist for decades, to really help someone the person needs to process their thoughts and contemplate their reactions and behaviors. When digging in to this it was difficult and took time to get people to really get to the foundation of their behavior. I usually began by stating, 'people are self centered, but not in a negative way'.... I said this because self centeredness is conscious but it is not exactly what I wanted to express. Over time I finally was able to express what I was trying to garner out of people- Innatious. We have an innate desire to please ourselves. Once we know this we can begin to understand what the need is to fulfill ourselves and how this effects relationships with others. (less)
