Lo Riddell (they/she) is a lesbian writer, zinemaker, and Pushcart-nominated poet.

Currently based in New England, they grew up in southern Ohio and hold a BFA in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University. Lo lives with their spouse (cartoonist and illustrator Al Benbow), their cat Millie, and a goldfish named Ponyo.

Both creatively and academically, one of Lo’s greatest muses is popular culture. From poems inspired by beloved television shows to feminist analyses of American entertainment, Lo’s work returns to these ideas again and again. They especially enjoy writing about nostalgia, film and literature analysis, religion, and twentieth century American culture.

"While I felt sometimes this book tread the thin line between showing the true and abject horror of the witch trials and gratuitous depictions of violence, it was brutal and unflinching. A really interesting and reflective read, and an uncomfortable l" Read more of this review »

Lo Riddell and 1 other person liked Kelsay's review of The Collector:
The Collector by John Fowles
"So much of the modern thriller/horror genre clearly comes from this book and story. Deeply compelling, horrifying, and sad."
More of Lo's books…
Vladimir Nabokov
“What I heard was but the melody of children at play, nothing but that, and so limpid was the air that within this vapor of blended voices, majestic and minute, remote and magically near, frank and divinely enigmatic—one could hear now and then, as if released, an almost articulate spurt of vivid laughter, or the crack of a bat, or the clatter of a toy wagon, but it was all really too far for the eye to distinguish any movement in the lightly etched streets. I stood listening to that musical vibration from my lofty slope, to those flashes of separate cries with a kind of demure murmur for background, and then I knew that the hopelessly poignant thing was not Lolita’s absence from my side, but the absence of her voice from that concord.”
― Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

Jenny Slate
“I am that mysterious stranger that I hoped to meet. I met her at a dark dance. We came here to live together until I could stay by myself. The place is here. The time is now. This is all my lifetime.”
― Jenny Slate, Little Weirds
