I really appreciate that you are reading my book, I can't wait to hear what you think!

I live in the suburbs of Cleveland and have been RV camping in Sandusky for 6-7 years. We have season passes to Cedar Point and visit there continuously throughout the season (I have never worked there).

A few summers ago, our RV needed some repairs, so I stayed there overnight without my family for the first time. It caused me to look at the campground from a different perspective. What would it be like if I actually lived there by myself? What if there were some shady seasonal people mixed in with these nice people at the campground? There were so many people coming and going, that it would be easy to operate scams in that environment!

Also, I have always been fascinated with the way Cedar Point hires internationally. What if a bad person manipulated that process and brought in criminals from a foreign country as henchmen (and henchwomen 😊)?

So that was the basis of my inspiration for Sandusky Burning. I did change a few things around (using the actual name of the amusement park seemed to be an invitation for a lawsuit!), but the setting in the book pretty closely resembles the actual area.

PS - When I saw that you were an author, I took a look at your books; your Rollin RV Mysteries series looks very interesting and I’m going to buy a copy of the first book and read it soon! Us Ohio authors have to stick together 😉!

April 2026 Newsletter

Hello Readers,

The same old story: I was deep into a perfectly good newsletter topic, first draft underway, when a more compelling idea shoved it aside. Once that happens, there’s no recovering the original plan. I have to chase the new idea down and get it on the page.

For my birthday, my teenage boys gave me a movie theater gift card so we could go see a movie together. I appreciated the gestu
