Then, I recently was participating in a flash fiction writing contest where writers are given a specific genre in which to write. Before receiving my assignment, I started to think about which genre would be the most challenging for me, and I decided on historical fiction. So I thought, "What would I write if I received historical fiction as my assigned genre?" I thought back to that train-hopping article and began forming this idea of a teen girl train-hopping to find work during the Great Depression. I never received historical fiction as my genre for the contest, but the story idea kept nagging at me anyway, so I practically wrote the 1,000-word flash fiction pieces in my head over the next few months and then was compelled to type it up and expand it into a 67,000-ish-word novel.(less)

So Excited for this Sequel!

It's been a long time coming, but this sequel is finally going out into the world!

Under the Pawpaw Trees releases July 25th and is available for pre-order now.

Now, do I write a third to make it a trilogy, or do I write the time-travel dystopian I've been planning?

"2.5 stars

The premise of this book sounded interesting and, even though I couldn't connect to Takako's character, I enjoyed the first part that takes place in the bookshop. I started losing interest in the second part that centers more around her uncl" Read more of this review »

Cheryl I’m so heartbroken to report that my publisher has announced its closure, just three weeks after my book’s release. It’s hard to imagine this dream dying, so I’m determined not to let it.

Sitting on Top of the World is still for sale by retailers like Amazon and Barnes and Noble who still have it in stock, and I hope that in the near future a second edition will be available for future sales.

One way you can help me is to leave a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads if you’ve read my book. This will give me the chance to show other publishers what my book has to offer.

Thank you so much for your support. I hope to have better news to share in the near future!Sitting on Top of the World
