Coming soon: The Journey, the third book of The Eagre epic series.

Hello to all!

I'm happy to announce that the third book in the epic 'The Eagre' series will be released on April 21st.

The Journey (The Eagre, #3) by Ron Sami

The Journey tells of an incredible sea voyage to unknown lands. This dangerous voyage is essential for the development of the global plot of the series. The heroes of the book are waiting for many adventures, dangers, battles and difficult decisions.

They sail to places dominated by dark magic and mysterious overseas creatures.

This is a grand expedition - one thousand people on sixteen ships. Among the sailors are many professionals, but also many random inexperienced people who ended up in the Wandering Fleet for a variety of reasons. They all took a sacred oath, vowing not to return back without discovering new lands.

I was inspired by various terrestrial explorations and voyages, such as the sailings of Columbus and Magellan. The idea of the book has been maturing for quite a long time, and I think the mixture of realistic expedition with a fantasy world turned out to be successful.

All books in the series have a continuous plot, so they need to be read in sequence.

Coming soon: The ships of Journey

Hello to all!

In four days, the third book 'The Journey' in the epic fantasy series 'The Eagre' will be available on Amazon.

I would like to talk about the ships of the Journey in this post. One of the heroes of the book characterizes the ships as follows:
"I assure you, never before has the Journey's fleet had such special ships. These are better than the ships of Saydion, better than the ships of Handor Gill, who sailed away to sea thirty-two years ago. Over the past fifty years, we have made many important improvements in ships design."

The Revealed Sign, the Storm's Killer, and the Roamer – these three main ships were built according to similar designs and formed the backbone of the holy fleet. Each of these ships are at least one hundred and fifty feet in length with high sides to withstand the roughest storm. Revealed Sign is the flagship of the fleet. It differs from its counterparts in its purple color, as it is made from a special rare wood that has some magical properties.

The Zealous is an experimental high-speed ship. This ship is narrow and long, like a northern barracuda. Its high masts were made of composites, and the yards were shortened. For stability, the ship was built much thicker at the waterline than at the sides which heaped inward. It was painted blue and white.

Another large ship of the flotilla is the Eternal Search, which had a bright yellow and black color. The Seekers Guild Ship was created by the Athenaeum craftsmen according to the specifications of an old project from thirty-two years ago. The ship of the seekers was a complete replica of the flagship of Handor Gill, the famous naval commander and Survivor. Eternal Search was also a three-masted ship with an extensive bow deck raised upward. The superstructure for this deck had two floors. The seekers also took care of the strength of the ship - Eternal Search had two layers of skin, between which lay tarred canvas.

Traditionally, the four priests of the Pure Circle had built four ships for the Journey. They painted them in black and blue - as was customary since ancient times. The largest of the Turquoise Temple ships was the Fury. This ship was prepared for military operations and had two catapults, eight scorpions, and several special towers for archers. Because of this, the Fury has become a rather slow and clumsy ship.
The other three ships of the Pure Circle were of medium size. The Stillness, the Wrath of God, and the Ver Derar. The last ship was named after one of the little-known ancient heroes and could sail at a high speed.

The seven remaining ships of the Journey were small. For example, Blinded by God, the Conqueror of Waves, and the Pursuer of Sins. These ships were reliable, maneuverable, and durable. It was much easier to maneuver them when the wind changed or near the coast than the bulky ships like the flagship. They were great for reconnaissance. Blinded by God was also made from special magical wood.
The Flying Catcher and the Sapphire were floated out just before the Journey. The last two ships of the holy fleet, the Poisonous Luck and the Wanderer's Dream, were added to the fleet at the last moment. Wanderer's Dream caused some concern, so it was ordered to sail in the center of the flotilla.

As a result, the fleet was well prepared for a long voyage, like the five ships of Fernando Magellan. However, the famous Portuguese explorer had an idea of the New World and the Moluccas, while in front of the ships of the flotilla lay absolute terra incognita. But more on that in the next post.

All books in the series have a continuous plot, so they need to be read in sequence.
