Stephen A. Roddewig is an author from Arlington, Virginia. His latest feat of cutting back from four to two cups of coffee a day has convinced him that he is superhuman, and his membership in the Horror Writers Association hasn’t disproven that belief.

When not pushing the bounds of human endurance, he has published four dozen short stories and three novels. Mostly, though, he spends his time reading incredible war fiction from William Peter Grasso while cycling in the gym and cooking like his savings depend on it. You can find more of his speculative fiction and comedy at stephenaroddewig.com

Then ask yourself what you liked most about your favorite books, and try to emulate that in your own writing. Write what you like to read versus what's popular in the market, since those trends are always changing and difficult to time.

Besides, you need to be your story/book/play/poem's biggest advocate, because no one else will be at the start, so make sure you love it. Otherwise, good luck selling writing you don't even like that much.(less)

It’s a Trilogy! The Opening Salvo (Dick Winchester Book 1) Now Live

Six months after A Bloody Business first hit shelves/trash bins, I’m back with my next book The Opening Salvo. This time, it’s the start of a full-blown trilogy centering on title character Dick Winchester, a man of action who lives by his own rules, drinks to excess, and never strays far from his gun.

For those who enjoyed Martin Williams from my original novel, you’ll be glad to know that Dick sh
