Just before the pandemic, I retired after fifteen years as a high school science teacher. I did other jobs before that, but none was as worthy. Except as a junior officer in the United States Coast Guard. With retirement, however, I needed to do something with this time.

I'd often imagine what it must have been like to be at the signing of the Magna Carta or the Declaration of Independence. Or experience - from a safe distance of course - the Battle of Gettysburg and landing at Omaha Beach. Well, none of that will happen.

But if it could happen. If there was a way to travel back in time. Or forward in time just to see if we have managed to survive as a civilization. That is the world that H.G. Well created in The Time Machine. To visit not one fictional world, but all our worlds that were, or will be. Now that would be something.(less)
