There has been the exposure of serious abuse of mostly young boys from care homes and some boarding schools who have been abused not only in these institutions but also taken out to special guest houses etc. Some of the abusers turn out to be politicians who were well known, and other public figures. All the abusers are dead, but the abused are very much alive and have had the courage to come forward.
It has now come to light that although investigations were carried out no action was taken, files went missing etc etc. Many officials have resigned but there is anxiety that much has yet to be divulged. An official Inquiry has been set up by the government with a panel of experts and and independent chairman to get at the truth.
The issues became more toxic, if that were possible, when it emerged that there was evidence of a paedophile ring operating in Whitehall (centre of government) itself. One Home Secretary had instructed no action be taken, and has since died. Another is surrounded in controversy about what he knew and did and although he said he passed files to the police, no action was taken.
The first chair appointed was a well known woman judge who turned out to be the brother of the deceased home secretary. They was an outcry and she had to resign. The second one appointed has been revealed as a social dinner buddy of the other home secretary and his wife. Apparently they live in the same road.
This has infuriated the victims, their lawyers and everybody who has a grain of common sense. Hence my blog. Like in the Catholic Church and parts of the Church of England and the private education sector, abuse of boys has been endemic for generations. It then goes on afterwards. There is now a determination to stamp it out. I refused to send any of my children to boarding school.

2025: Now Or Never

The government is forever talking about growth and reform, much as previous governments have done in recent times, yet somehow there is a growing scepticism that it will fare any better. Or if better only at the margin. Right across the spectrum of public administration and national utilities there is a sense of late or non delivery.

Starmer knows this. But he does not know quite what to do. So the

“If your like a powerful modern thriller with an historical core in the Scandinavian style of many separate threads which eventually come together, Purple Killing will grip you. It is my latest book and a companion to Hitler's First Lady, but in a very different style. Set equally in the US and UK.”
