Kate St. Vincent Vogl is the author of Lost & Found: A Memoir of Mothers, which was featured on national ABC news and named by the Akron Beacon Journal among the best of the year. She is the co-author of Lady Ref as well as Iron Horse Cowgirls. Her work appears in Prairie Schooner and in best-selling anthologies like Why We Ride. Her fiction has received support from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Anderson Center. Vogl graduated from Cornell University cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, and from Hamline’s Creative Writing Program. She teaches at the Loft in Minneapolis.

Loved the ending––powerful and poignant and beautiful writing. Those who grew up in Duluth especially will appreciate this.

I love sharing Saunders’s stories with my students. I’m not convinced this is his best work. Very much message driven … and while I agree with his conclusions, he doesn’t develop the heartfelt conflicts as well as is done in a Picoult novel.

A book club selection. For those of a certain age who wonder about choices made (and made for them) in the past. About dealing with difficult family members. A bittersweet yet happy ending.

A quick read, lots of turns that keeps you turning the page. And just when you think everything is going to turn out just so––bam! And a fitting ending. Nicely done.
