Thanks Larry- My sis ter gave me a copy of the Katz book. It's on my list. I also read the Matthiessen "Killing Mr. Watson trilogy last year. it cam ein at about 1100-1400 pages and although the second book plodded a bit it was really a wonderful reading experience about an area I'd never even given any though to.
