For example, if I'm needing more conflict, taking additional time to experience, through books, articles, etc., the job or whatever my characters do helps stir ideas. Sometimes taking time to do something mindless and active helps. Often, when I feel stumped regarding a thread or scene, if I pull away for awhile, the idea eventually comes. I also rely heavily on two special brainstorming buddies! We chat via Google Hangout, and have a blast imagining fictional world's together!(less)
