Teddy Roosevelt must have smiled in his grave when Rick Monday saved the American flag from flag burners at Dodger Stadium in 1976. His rest must be disturbed that an NFL QB (Colin Kaepernick) is now refusing to stand for the National Anthem. Teddy was an uber patriot who glowed with love of country, which he described as "the pride of personal possession." To Teddy, the USA was like a larger version of his own family, to be cherished and protected at all costs. This is one reason why he deserves the honorific "Theodore the Great."
