Alberto S. Florentino (1931–2018) was an award-winning Filipino playwright, book publisher, and cultural worker known for writing plays that portrayed the daily struggles of ordinary Filipinos. He is best known for his one-act play The World Is an Apple, which won a Carlos Palanca Memorial Award in 1954.
Florentino was a book publisher for more than four decades, helping to publish over 70 titles by other Filipino authors. He also edited literary anthologies and served as the Philippines' regional editor for Short Story International, a New York-based literary magazine. In 1960, he was named one of the Philippines' Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) for literature. Alberto S.
