Prabhaker Acharya turned to creative writing after he retired as the Head of the Department of English, K.C. College, Mumbai.

His first novel, was titled 'The Suragi Tree' (Mapin Publishing, Ahmedabad, 2006).

Prof. Acharya also writes in Kannada. His recent book, Kaviteya Odu (Reading Poetry), (Desi Pustaka, Bengaluru, 2013) explores the nature of poetic communication, both in English and Kannada.
