YA Summer Reading
Can anyone recommend a summer read my 16yo niece and 19yo nephew might BOTH like? Their interests include all sorts of things, esp science-y stuff and tru luv (niece), and nothing much, esp weed and, vaguely, sports (nephew). Books for the niece are easy to find, but books they'll both enjoy? Not so much...
I could really use your help on this one!

series, cont
do you play this game? while reading book one in a series, do you like to see how quickly you're able to spot book two's protagonist? sometimes it's too easy, like, "oh, hey, we'll be getting to know each other so much better in the next book, you're gonna love me, i swear!" but mostly it’s more subtle than that... still, i haven’t been wrong in a while. how about you?
(i love it best when book two doesn’t have a new protag, though. that’s definitely my favorite. i can’t help it. i get attached!)

wish i would
I would very much like to add War of Two: Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, and the Duel that Stunned the Nation, by John Sedgwick, to my "want to read" shelf, but I suspect it's more suitably shelved as "wish I would".

series
i'm a bit disturbed by the number of series i seem to be reading, especially since i generally try not to read series at all! and yet, here i am with a bunch of book 1's marked 'read', one that i'm currently reading, and a mess of book 2's marked 'want to read'. how did this happen?

The Lifecycle of Software Objects
I absolutely loved Ted Chiang's novella, The Lifecycle of Software Objects. It's so good I tried to read it slowly, and I did, but ultimately, I wanted to keep reading more than I wanted to draw it out!

pretty in print
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of ebooks, but right now? Right now I'm holding a print copy of
Like They Always Been Free
in my very own hands, and I know I'm biased, but truly, it's a thing of beauty! I love the size of it, and the depth of the colors in the cover, and the interior design is super cool, too.
You can check out some info about the interior of the book here, if you're interested in that sort of thing. Which I imagine you are, because, well... Okay, honestly, I imagine lots of things. Let's just leave it at that!
